Michelin discount thru FMCA?

Has anyone used this feature? Just curious how much the discount is.

I priced 1 tire for a spare XZE2 275 80r 22.5 in several different Michelin dealers in Jersey the prices varied from $10-$125 more than the discounted price from the FMCA Michelin plan. A few of the dealers just did not want to be bothered so I figure they just quoted a higher than normal price.

Go to the FMCA site and the Michilin tire forum and people are reporting good prices, there are several things that need to be done. One, the tire dealer has to handle National Tire Accounts and the final price is given by Michilin Corporate office, there is a formula on the forum to get a good idea of the final price. Reading the forums there is still a lot of misunderstanding and misinformation going on about the program. I am thinking of new tires next year and plan on checking the discount program out.

There has been a great deal of discussion about this on the FMCA web site, including price quotes.

Oops, sorry, I didn't read far enough. The above poster already gave that info.

I just purchased 2- Michelin 275/80R/22.5 XZE2's for the front. I saved approx. $100 per tire. The process was very easy.

I bought 4 XZA2 295R80 22.5s and 2 315R80 22.5s, saved about $1,300 - but tires are more expensive up here in Canada, so the discount was proportionately larger.

You just need to find a dealer that honours the fleet program, which most of the big rig shops do.

By purchasing through the FMCA National Accounts program you don't have any idea what the final price will be until you get the final bill from FMCA-or at least what the final credit card charge was. They are up front by saying you may be able to get a better price from a dealer that is running a special. Hopefully WayneM will notice this post and give his report...it was a doozy.

Wow! I'd suggest reading the entire FMCA Forum thread on the Michelin Tire Advantage Program. I was on the road and in Oklahoma. I was ready to leave a CG and noticed cracking on the sidewall. McAlister OK was just down the road a piece so I called ahead to a Michelin dealer.

It was a Saturday and all the office personnel were not there, just the service people. I asked about the FMCA discount, but nothing was known by the service personnel. It was understandable since this was a "new" program at the time. (Think Flying J for another example when it started.) I don't remember all the details, but in the end, after credits/debits/credits/and more debits, I ended up staying with the dealer invoice. The National Account added taxes that were not applicable to Oklahoma. It was one of those things they needed to work out. So in the end, the dealer pricing was better suited for me. I highly recommend Beale Tire in McAllister, OK if you are in the market for a tire. Very fair pricing.

The FMCA Forum is an open forum, like this one and anyone can read the threads on that forum. Give it a look-see on the FMCA Advantage program. Many have used the program and have benefited by several dollars. It just wasn't my day.

p.s., you have to be a member of FMCA to take advantage of this specific program.

Hi:

If you are a member of FMCA you can go online and get the exact price/discount from michelin. It appears to be a good deal and it is handled by Michelin. It does not cost anything to compare. The same tires that nutensteve bought according to web site is very good, 930.00 retail vs 520.00 for FMCA.

I just used the FMCA program at a Michelin dealer in Boise, Id. The savings to me was over $100 per tire for four 255/80R 22.5 XZE's. The process was straight forward with no hassel. Paid the dealer for mounting and balancing, and then paid Michelin direct. I recommend the program without any qualms.

Just curious, did you know the cost before installing the tires?

If you have a Monaco "heritage" product (any company whose name they now own even if your MH was made before the acquisition) there is a Michelin discount program that I understand to be better than that provided by FMCA. All you have to do is join the Monaco owner's club.

One thing that is very clear is that under the Monaco program you know the price before you make the purchase. I used the Monaco program for 6 new XZE2+ tires and the savings was >$100/tire. Any major Michelin truck tire dealer is probably used to selling to national account customers--many truckers use such accounts when they need to replace tires.

There is a lot of misunderstanding on these discount programs. Michelin calls it the Michelin Advantage Program. It was intially designed for small fleets( Under 100 units). Since then it is avaialable to MI members, FMCA members and one of the Bluebird clubs . The program is eaxctly the same for each group. No one gets a "special deal". Michelin uses a discount from some sort of list price. You must use a large truck tire dealer. He does not need to know anything about the program. You simply tell him it is a national account and he contacts Micehelin and gives them your account # and CC #. You pay for the installation, etc. The dealer is reimbursed for the tires by Michelin.. Michelin bills your CC. Your club should send you an invoice with all the details. Unless you have some special connection to a tire dealer you will likely not match this price anywhere. The price sheet is available from each club. If you want to know th price for a particular trire PM me and I will look it up. Please note than when people post that they bought those tires in January for less money there has been at least 2 hefty price increases this year. What someone paid a year ago is meaningless. Any program that helps us get rid of those bad G670 tires is Worthy!

Couple of things that are flying around that are not true:
  1. You can see the fleet prices if you are a member of one of the clubs that support it (FMCA or the Monaco Int'l clubs are two). The prices are published and the taxes are disclosed. You can cross shop to your heart's content. The only thing that is not known until the invoice comes from Michelin are the service fees for mounting and balancing. In my case these were about 25% lower than the dealer's posted charges.
  2. The second is that it is different based on which club. I compared FMCA and Monaco Int'l. because I was a member of FMCA but they said it wasn't available in Canada yet, whereas Monaco Int'l and Michelin both said it was, so I went with the Monaco Int'l club program, but it made no difference (except that Moncaco Int'l. were more helpful on the day).
You must be a member of one of the organizations to see the price sheet, or have a pal who will show it to you.

Paul.
