Minor Miracle

First the bad news. The cooling unit went South on my Norcold after almost exactly to the day 4 years of "full time" use. Will contact Norcold and beg for some mercy. This is my second Norcold failure. The first one was on a 2000 Monaco. Norcold said it was not in their recall range but after several letters and emails they finally reimbursed me 100%.

But I digress...................

We have been in Colorado Springs for 25 days where I am insurance adjusting for a hail storm. I got back to the motor home Saturday 5 pm and noticed the fridge was defrosting. A quick look outside and I saw the dreaded yellow/green tell tell sign of a failed cooling unit. Called a mobile RV repair guy I had used a few weeks ago for some awning replacements.

Miracle #1 Called him at 5:15 Saturday night. He said he might have one in stock and would call me back.

Miracle #2 He actually called me back like he said he would and said he had the cooling unit in stock and that he would come Sunday morning and replace it if I could help since all his folks were off on Sunday. All of this because of my begging and pleading and explaining what an emergency it was for two reasons. One, my wife had just gone to the store and packed it full and I was about finished here and may have to move to another storm on Tuesday.

Miracle #3 He actually showed up Sunday at 8:30 AM. We finished the job at 11 am.

How bout that for a miracle? From failure to waiting on the first ice cubes to drop in less than 24 hours!!!

How lucky can a guy get? He said he has been waiting 3 weeks for a cooling unit for a Dometic and they are back ordered and can't tell him when they will ship.

Wouldn't you think with all the advances there have been in RV's that by now they could come up with something better than early 20th century technology for refrigerators.
