does anyone know what all the different Monaco model designation letters that follow the length mean?

SBD, PAQ etc...

The last letter is generally the number of slides:
  • D = Double
  • T = Triple
  • Q = Quad

There really doesn't seem to be a distinct pattern to the first two letters. Some people have made reasonable guesses what some of the models might mean, but they're just guesses and the don't always hold true for different models. For example, the SKQ is a four slide unit with a front kitchen, so the K might have something to do with the kitchen, but what does the S mean? Or the PRQ has the head of the bed in the back rather than to one side, so maybe the R means "Rear" bed?

Personally, I think that there may be a basic scheme that the marketers know, but there are lots of exceptions since you're only dealing with two letters - there aren't an unlimited number of possible combinations.

We have a Monaco Dipolmat PAQ.
The entry door is front passenger =P
We have atrium windows = A
Then we have 4 slides or quad = Q
PAQ

On the surface, sounds plausible. I have an Endeavor PDQ:
The entry door is front passenger = P
I have no idea what the D would mean
Then we have 4 slides or quad = Q

Unfortunately, that scheme falls apart quickly. What about the SKQ and SFT, which also have the entry door at the front passenger position, but it doesn't start with P?

You can make up whatever meaning you want for the various letters (like PRQ has the head of the bed towards the Rear of the coach) but it all falls apart quite quickly once you look at more than one or two floorplans.

The only thing that I've seen that is very consistent is the last letter for the number of slides.

It was my understanding that the first character indicates the indicates what type of bathroom is equipped (P=private)

And what does "private" mean?

Looking at the floorplans in my 2007 brochure:
  • 36PDQ - toilet and sink in a room, shower in the hall
  • 38PDQ - toilet and sink in a room, shower and sink in the hall
  • 40SFT - toilet, shower, and sink all in their own room (a room with two doors which becomes a hall when the full wall slide is in.)
  • 40PET - toilet and sink in a room, shower and sink in the hall
  • 40SKQ - toilet, shower, and sink all in their own room
  • 40PRQ - toilet and sink in room, shower and sink in the hall
  • 40PAQ - toilet in a room, sink and shower in the hall
  • 40PDQ - toilet and sink in a room, shower and sink in the hall

I don't see much of a pattern there as far as bathrooms go. In fact, the two that have bathrooms that are the most "private" (nothing out in the "hallway") both start with an S not a P!

I've read lots of theories on the meaning of the model names. None have held up once you've looked more than a few coaches (other then the last letter for the number of slides.) Personally, I think the marketing folks choose model names with a dartboard.

To answer the "S" part, it means side aisle. That's why all the all in one baths have an "S". We had the SKT = Side aisle, front kitchen, triple slide.

On edit....I guess it could mean separate bath or single bath.

Thanks all for your input, it sounds like you're starting to break the code. I also think the first letter refers to the bathroom configuration.
Here's my thought:
"S" for Shared space, all in one
area for toilet, sink and shower. Even with the two doors setup everything is together. Could also mean Side bathroom complete.

"P" for private area for toilet, with or without sink and shower in hall.

Does that pattern hold up across the models?

Ours is a 2001 Dynasty Regent DSO FD. Meaning dual slide outs, front door.
At least that is my guess when we look at the actual floor plans.

43dft
it's not 43 foot, more like 44+ :-}
D= dual potty for 1-1/2 baths?
F = full wall slide?
T = triple slide.

this is fun !

Ok, I broke the code for the first letter:
S=Shared toilet and bath.
P=Private toilet.
D=Double toilet (bath and 1/2).

The last letter is as previously discussed:
D=Double slide.
T=Tripple slide.
Q=Quad slide.

The middle number is still a mystery but in many cases:
R=Rear bed.
D=Driver side bed.
K=Kitchen side bed.
S=?.
A=?.

So we have a 2001 Windsor pbd.
P, private toilet.
B, has a bedroom?
D, dual slide.

Or:
P, passenger door
B, has a bathroom
D, dual slide.

Doesn't Steve know this????

While the first letter seems to have a pattern, and the third letter has a very strong pattern, I strongly suspect that the middle letter is somewhat random. There may be some commonly used variations, like K for a front kitchen, or A for large atrium style living room windows, but I think that sometimes they just throw a dart to choose a letter when there isn't a unique feature to highlight and they just need a unique designation.

I've wondered if the middle letter might refer to the dinette configuration.
B=booth
A=atrium window
D=dinette table
etc...

just some thoughts, enjoy the day.
