When at home in Mo. I seem to have moisture in the front air tank a lot. When opening the front drain valve there is almost always some water comes out in a gush. I recently changed the finter on the air dryer and have changed it three times in 3&1/2 yrs ownership. Some don't have to change theirs at all.
Being concerned, I called Monaco LLC tech support and the tech said that maybe I needed to change the purge valve on the air dryer. When checking the purge valve, I can't find a way to change it without changing the entire air dryer assembly.
He also said maybe the dryer was not working. When reading the manuel it says the heater don't come on unless the temp is 40 degrees or below. I havn't been in 40degree weather since owning the MH.
Does anyone have any idea how to change the purge valve without changing the entire air dryer assembly???

Amonth ago I sent for 2 quick air release valves. they only cost about$6 each and comes with a 5ft cable, Every now and then, I give each a pull to clear any extra water! Should save the lifetime of the dryer! allegro5 PS wish I had saved the address! Google it

Bill, can I assume you are talking about the front air tank for the braking system and not the optional front tank that supports the auto leveling system? If it's the air tank for the optional air leveling system, I don't believe the air drying system works with this tank.

Imagine IF, As far as I know, both tanks are dried by the dryier and they both are used for the brakes and airbags! Could be all wet! I now have valves on both, so I dont have to crawl under to let water out! All Air tanks get water in! Many have said the tanks need to be perged often!

Some coaches have an optional air compressor and tank for auto leveling the coach when parked. This is a third tank. Doesn't sound like you have the third tank.

Gil, My coach don't have a third tank. My coach is a little lower on the food chain than to have air leveling. Mine is hydrolic. Thanks for the reply.
I talked with the Meritor Wabco tech support yesterday and they say that a little water is normal and not to worry. Also they say that I probably should drain the tank a little more often, like daily.

I dont agree with them Bill, in almost 10 yrs of ownership of a Monaco diesel coach I have never had water in the tanks, I think you have a problem with your air dryer and probably where you posted that its possibly the unloader valve. I do change my dryer canister every 2 to 3 years but again water in the tanks with a working dryer is not normal. The drain cocks with the pull cable was when trucks ran without a dryer they had to drain the tanks each day.

Walt, Not in any way meanning to argue, But do you ever crawl under and open the air drain valve? A week ro so after I put in a new Dryer, I found some small amounts of water in both tanks! Others have said its still a best idea to drain some air often! In your case, if it aint broke, dont fix it! Always read anything you say, as you sure know most of the answers! Many Thanks< allegro5

Of course I do bill, I check it at least twice a year and have never found anything on two different coaches.

Allegro 5, I drain my tanks quite often, probably two to three times a month, depending whether I do any traveling. My drain is on the front of the coach beside the generator, I don't have to craw under the coach. It is quite easy to drain the tank, I also have one beside the hitch on the rear of the coach.

Thanks for all of the replys.
