Monaco build year

Is there a way to get the engine / chassis build year for a 2008 Monaco Knight?

There should be a placard mounted on the wall in the cockpit area near the driver's seat with that information listed on it.

I think that is the build date of the MH not the year of the engine/chassis.
If it doesn't have DEF it's a pre 2007 engine.
My 2002 engine doesn't have a EGR valve which started in 02 so I know mine is a 01 or earlier engine.

Cummins can tell you with their scan tool when the engine was built and what its model year is (could be different). Decoding the VIN will give you the model year of the chassis. The model year of the completed motor home is what is shown on your title. All 3 may be different.

For example, it is possible to have a 2006 engine in a 2007 chassis and be a 2008 motorhome.

BTW, model year 2007 and newer diesel engines have a DPF (diesel particulate filter). Model year 2010 and newer engines have SCR (selective catalytic reduction) requiring the use of DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid).

Get the engine serial number. It is on the build sheet for that unit and is on the engine data plate located on the left top rear side of the engine looking from the access hole in the bedroom. Mine is a Dec 06 Eng in a 07 Chassis. The build date of the engine is on the data plate. Cummings can tell you the build date with the Engine Ser number and/or maybe the VIN.

Actually the ISM with EGR fuel system started production in Oct of '02, so you might have a late production non EGR and was built in '02. Mine was built Sept 8, '02 and was one of the last.

Call Monaco and get the build sheet. It will include the engine serial number. Then call Cummins and they will tell you the date the engine was built.

I did this to keep from having to crawl over and under the engine. My 2005 was built in February 2005 but the engine was built in July 2004. However it was a HPCR engine even thought Cummins did not 'bring out" the HPCR until 2005.

Go figure!

The build date on my 8.3 Cummins was 12/11/2009 and it does not use DEF.
