Monaco buying...

A friend of mine is looking for a used Monaco in the late 90's to early 2000's. What is the best source for finding them? I found mine on Craigslist, but I remember some sites with a very large amount of Motorhomes for sale by owner.
He is in the So Cal area.

Thank you

dealer

If he doesn't have a trade in NO ONE beats motorhome specialists in Texas. When I go on line and look at some of their pricing I can't believe it. You can save most likely 30% over any other place. Good luck

Everywhere you can look is the best place to look, never know where you are going to find that coach that has your name on it. We looked for a year, visited dealers, checked dealer websites, RVTrader.com, RVOnline.com, etc. We finally found our coach on searchtempest.com which allows you to search Craigslist for as big of an area of the country as you select. I prefer to purchase from an owner as opposed to a dealer for a used vehicle so I can get a good sense of the way the vehicle was cared for.

Just my two cents...

We found our 2004 Diplomat on RV trader.com.Talked on phone with owner several times sent him $2000.deposit.Then we flew to Augusta Georgia took it to a cummins shop and a Monaco dealer to have it checked out(this was our first M/H) a few small repairs we paid for it and drove it back.
We have been looking for 6 months this rig felt right and i think we got a great deal.Hope so it now parked in drive way.
Good luck on your search, its fun but a LOT OF WORK.

Even though these guys are in Texas....they are pretty huge in the used business AND list what the coaches they sold.... actually sold for...so I thought your friend might find this site useful.

We've purchased two and sold one via Craigslist. But all of the advice above is good. LOOK EVERYWHERE! Motor homes are not commodity items. Therefore they appear in a very wide range of conditions and prices, even for similar make, model, and age.

Search applications like searchtempest.com mentioned above can help cast a wider net and save a lot of time. Dealers like PPL are good to get price comparisons. They publish the sale price, or at least they used to. That's a better indicator of value than the published price guides.

Not that the guides are worthless but they do little to narrow the price to a useable figure unless you're financing. Then whoever is loaning the money will rely on the guides to a great degree. Which brings up another point; if at all possible pay cash. It makes closing the deal faster, simpler, and often better, i.e. lower price to the buyer.

Please do be careful on Craigslist. I was nearly had by a fellow who is still doing it. It is a paypal only deal. He shows the same RV being in 5 different locations at the same time. I love craigslist but follow their spam and anti-fraud suggestions do you don't get hurt. RVT.com is another great one.
Cheers!

I really want this item to be a surprise gift for my daughter so i wont let her know anything about the item until it gets delivered to her,i am sure she will be more than happy with the item.I will make the payment through paypal because i don't have access to my bank account online as i don't have internet banking, but i can pay from my PayPal account,as i have my bank a/c attached to it, i will need you to give me your PayPal email address so i can make the payment as soon as possible for the item and pls if you don't have PayPal account yet,it is very easy to set up, go on www.paypal.com and get it set up ,after you have set it up i will only need the e-mail address you used for registration with PayPal so as to put the money through.I have a pick up agent that will come for the pick up immediately you have receive the payment in full.
