2003 Monaco Dynasty Baroness 40 footer here.
No EGR, No DPF and are still very happy, we now have 116k miles on her. It was as the high side of our budget at the time we purchased it in 2007.
Only complaints with the mid-2000's of most coaches are the sidewalls that will craze, especially on dark colors. This is a common issue due to out-gassing but on many manufacturers, not specifically to Monaco.
If you are looking in this year range, like anything else there are standard and optional equipment differences model to model up and down the hierarchy, my suggestion is to make a list of those items that are important to you and search out the specific model that has those features within the years you're looking.

Like what? I may be sorry to have asked.
The only thing major I see is that Beaver went to the "multiplex" wiring in '06. I'm not sure if that is good or bad.

With the Beaver line (at least with the Patriot), they went to the taller ceilings in 2005.
2004 had 78" ceiling height, overall height of 12ft.
2005+ had 81" ceilings with an overall height of 12'-4".

Still big company rallys, and lots of special ordered coaches in mid 2000's. The brochures are usually just a starting point.

The taller coaches started in 2005 model year. One piece windshield in 2006.

I have a one-piece windshield in my 2005 Beaver (but maybe not a "true" Monaco product).

The upper end coaches had one piece windshields before 2006. Our 2000 Dynasty has a one piece windshield.

My friend at Cummins engine sales says the latest DEF after treatments start at a $10,000 upgrade for them to add to their engines, maybe that will deter you enough as it did me, not to mention the other issues and expenses that cannot be avoided with these problematic systems.

Some of the good stuff started in Beavers as of 2006
Fuel fill down low direct into tank, you can use the truck pumps.
MUX electrical
Twin electric entrance steps
Valance above awning, valance mounted awnings (The rail or trim on sides of coach, I don't know what to call it!)
Side windows in bedroom slideout by head of bed
Pantry access via double doors (in addition to narrow slide out door)
Maybe someone else can complete the list.

We have an 03 Dynasty 40 baroness
We love our 03. We have had it for almost a year. It had 40,000 miles on it when we got it and now it’s at 48,000. The 2005-2006 isl 400 with the newer high pressure common rail fuel system would have been nice but I’m not complaining about the one I have. We regularly tow about 9000 pounds of Ram 2500 megacab 4x4 behind it and it does fine. If I had a choice when we bought I would have rather had the 10kw generator and 3 roof acs. Two were not cutting it last summer in 118 degree heat. In 2005 they came out with multiplex whole coach wiring too. It’s a nice feature but not necessary. I was happy to find a rig that had great service history and low mileage. I have some of the fiberglass crazing zmotorsports talked about but it’s part of those coaches from the era in the dark colors. Good luck!
