Monaco Dynasty entry door locking open

I know there is a thread addressing this area but could not find it. I have a 2007 Monaco Dynasty Emperor IV. Just recently the entry door would open too far and it would lock in place. One look at the entry door hinged limiter showed the rivet in the hinge was loose and letting the stop go over center. I was going to remove the hinge but the hinge attachment on the door is pop riveted with 4 rivets and I didn't want to drill them out and put new rivets in. I tried several type of punches to tighten up the hinge rivet but no luck. I then found a ball peen hammer that would fit into the rivet cavity and used a 4 lbs sledge to hammer from the top of the hinge while my helper held the ball peen hammer in the hinge rivet on the bottom of the hinge. Took only a few blows to tighten up the hinge rivet and now it works like new...no need to try and find an NOS hinge, drill out any pop rivets, etc. Took no more than three minutes to fix the problem.

Glad you were able to tighten it up but keep the hammers handy, the trouble will return.

Glad you got it fixed, but as Dan said, it's only temporary.

This is what a lot of folks have done to solve the problem. http://www.irv2.com/forums/f258/gas-...ed-241214.html

I've done that 3 times and replaced the hinge once. Next time it happens I'm going to do exactly what Joe did.
