I'm experiencing intermittent problems with my keyless entry system. Sometimes, the door unlocks normally, sometimes it doesn't unlock at all, sometimes it unlocks but feels unusually sluggish. What are the potential causes for this type of intermittent problem?

The key pads are known to go bad. I replaced mine about a year ago because it was doing the same as yours. The company that made the original key pad no longer makes an identical replacement. The new model is slightly larger than the old model. Just get out your dremel and make the opening to fit. The new one even came with a template. On my Windsor I got to the back of the unit by taking off the cup holder on the passenger side. The wiring is color coded the same as the old unit. Not really a bad job and the new unit is much nicer.

Take black plastic covers off all baggage doors...lube all moving parts. Also the clam locks/linkage. I like CRC powerlube.

I had a similar issue. REV techs replaced the box and I still had problems - they told me that if you were near a strong wi-fi signal that could cause the problem. We moved to another park and haven't had a problem since. Not sure I buy that answer but, hey, we moved and the problem went away. But that got me to installing a lock box in the propane bay with spare keys in it just in case.

If your coach has the contact buttons on the hinge side of the door jamb, clean them with steel wool or light sandpaper. Poor contact of these is the most common problem with intermittent door locks.

Thank you very much for your ideas. I tried cleaning the contacts however the intermittent problem still exists. There are no WIFI signals where we are located so I'm sure that isn't the issue.

Is there a way to test the keypad and/or black box to see if they are defective? It would be helpful to do a few tests before just purchasing something new and hoping it works.

With the door open I would put a test light (not a meter) on the two spring loaded contacts and make sure it lights every time...is not intermittent. If it does then your problem is at the door.
