Monaco Guages

There used to be a thread regarding gauges and ground problem, but can't seem to find with the search engine

My gauges start to work after I drive 20-40 miles

I tried to locate the elusive Monaco central ground post under the dash, but no luck

Playing with the light switch and dash lights, the gauges work go up and down and the dash light dimmer seemed a bit rough to operate

A couple of days ago, I got under the dash and pulled contacts off the switch, cleaned and replaced. Then lo-n-behold gauges are now working.

I'm on my way south down the west coast states. I'll buy a new switch from NW RV when I pass thru Cobourg

Here is a good way to check the grounds on the dash circuit of a Monaco. First find the ground for the am/fm radio, attach your digital vom to the ground, and the other lead to one of the bolt heads for the gas pedal or brake pedal, measure the voltage then crank up the volume on the radio, if you see the voltage go up, you have poor grounds, as Monaco daisy chained all the grounds. I would not spend a lot of time looking for and resecuring the Monaco grounds. What you need to do is run 3 dedicated ground wires from the firewall , one goes to the ground on the tachometer, one goes to the ground on the speedometer or the temp gauge for coolant, the third goes to radio ground.you can remove the headlamp switch and take it to autozone or napa, they have replacements, I think it is a Chevy pickup part.

Colon it always help to post what coach you are talking about, I know you have a 02 Dip and the ground block is on the firewall up high next to the top of the dash behind the steering column, it's almost impossible to get to without removing the dash.
