Roland,

Thanks for posting that. It does not surprise me. Here is the text of the recall, for those who want to read it.

Now I wonder if Monaco will reimburse me for the labor cost I paid to have this replacement done on my coach last month.

I should add here that the replacement wiper assembly from AM Equipment works great. It is well built, rugged, and runs smoothly and quietly. This is the same assembly that they installed on the 2008 coaches.

Rob,
Would not hurt to ask and worth a try. Since I installed the replacement AM assembly myself I wonder if Monaco will reimburse me at dealer rates?? I think I know the answer to that - wonder in one hand and spit in the other and see which one fills up first.

The new assembly IS much, much better than the original POS. I don't think the sweep is as much as the original but Aquapel helps keep the far roadside clear.

Roland,
This is great news and just in time for my March 17th visit to Harrisburg. This was one of the items on my fix it list. Glad Monaco is taking care of the problem.

Regarding reimbursement..........since this is now an official safety recall it is VERY likely that you can be reimbursed for any expenses related to this but NOT for any personal labor. At least that is the way it is/was with auto recalls.

Wait until you get your official letter and it may address that matter.

That's about what I expected. It actually was a very easy uninstall/install. About 1.5 hrs max. If Monaco requires replacement to be done at at a dealer the fuel cost would have been about $100 since it is about 120 miles each way not including the time spent. The hardest part of the job is reaming out the holes to accommodate the larger wiper pivots.

Well, I'm glad that it has finally become a recall item, as we (who have dealt with it) know what a safety hazard it is, but I have to say that I am dismayed that Beaver coaches aren't included in the recall. If you own a Beaver coach, you could have the same issue. As most here know, we did.

Good point, Brenda, although I suspect your original wiper assembly was not the AM Equipment model in question. But I'm quite surprised to see that Knights and Embassadors were not included in the recall. I would think that they would have the same assembly. Perhaps not.

So short of calling Monaco, is it possible to ascertain whether my coach is effected by the recall?

Mbl Condo,

ALL 06/07 Dips and Endeavors should be effected, if they have the pre-2008 style AM Equipment wiper assembly with the flat linkage arms and the plastic knuckle joints. (I'm not certain whether any 2007 coaches got the new style assemblies, but I'd doubt it.) The official recall, which will likely list coach numbers, will not be issued for a few more weeks yet.
