Welcome Joe

You've had quite a baptism with problems, right from the get-go!! But you done good!!

From past posts...First choice for many is Koni FSD shocks but they are pretty
expensive. Next choices are the Comfort Ride Bilstein shocks and Source Engineering custom tuned Bilsteins.

Dont have to use it, but you'll be ready for next time if you install now!!!
Think Shell Rotella T6 (Walmart) or I hear good things about Valvoline premium blue diesel syn blend

Based on your experience so far, this begs the question (not sure why no one has ask yet):
1. Did you buy this from and individual or a dealer
2. Did you have anyone check it out
3. Did you drive it first for at least an hour and on various different local roads

I don't mean to pick on you. Just curious. We're in the process of upgrading rigs now. So this is very timely for us.

Quick follow-up on oil...
Just saw the Valaoline at Pep Boys for $19 gal (but verify it's the gal size, as they dont say) with free ship (over $75) and a $25 promo if you exceed $100....not bad. Dont know if they will charge Tax in Calif.

Dont want to get into an oil fight, but even if you have someone else change it. I'd supply the oil...One last reference

Performance of Base Oils and Future Trends - The Evolution of Base Oil Technology - Part 3

well, one more as there was a thread on the Yahoo Safari Forum (dont know if you can get it without signing up) but it's at ""
[Safarifriends] Oil"" started July 2.

Just FYI

Thanks for the Info everyone

Hello folks,
I appreciate the feed back from everyone who chimed in..

Answering a few questions that were asked.

Where did you buy the rig?
I bought this unit from a private party. The unit is clean as a whistle but it has low mileage for an 06.
Sometimes you need to shake the tree a bit for the leaves to fall..
I am not surprised by the issues I have had.
Sometimes these things happen
and I can honestly say "I am glad they happened close to my house".
Also, fortunately I can do most of the repair work myself.

Addition service required
Recommend Fuel filter, Brake line filter and Intake during an oil change.

I am dropping my Diplomat off next week to have a once over.
I will add these to the list with some other items I want done including the Air Drier...
I know I said I could do them but my work somewhat prevents me right
now. Not to mention... I want to have a Monaco dealer handle it.
I appreciate all the input.

Shocks.
I selected Bilstien due to cost. The rig has 8 shocks and Konis were almost twice the price. I will provide feed back after install. Your Feed back is appreciated.

Fuel line

I have already installed the fuel line. I appreciate the Recall info and the direction on the support bracket. It was Less than $100 and it was painless for me.
Well almost!

Steering

Steering play is still an issue.
I have read many post on the steering box, Kinda Scary!
I have a steering wheel that's off the the left. Sitting about left of true north.

That's a battle for another day.

Thanks again

Joe

Here is everything you want to know about handling. Jump to the last posts and work backwards just a bit or you will make yourself crazy. This group has come up with some incredible fixes which are reasonable and logical.

Make sure the screen door on the entry door isn't rattling. I also took a day and installed indoor/outdoor carpet on the bottom of every shelf & cabinet. Not only did that take most of the rattles out, it added sound deadening material. The carpet was cheap and is available in various colors at HD.
