1. Monaco production halted in early '09 and the production assets of the company were sold to Navistar later that year. Quality under the old MCC way generally very good, but as with all of these coach builders, they had occasional lapses. The coaches built in Oregon from the early 2000s until the end of production were generally very well built with good quality components.
2. Under Navistar early, most coaches sold as Navistar were rebadged MCC designed coaches that were in production at shut down or built using MCC components. The only true Navistar designed & built coaches had the distinctive V shaped grill work in front. They also featured Navistar Maxxforce engines.

I think that Navistar had every intention of introducing ISO 9000 manufacturing techniques to motorhome building but they were derailed by their engines failing EPA standards and the threat of bankruptcy. They sold the RV business to ASV, a private equity firm who also owned American Coach and Fleetwood.

My personal preference, if shopping for a coach, would be a Monaco/Holiday Rambler/Beaver of '03-'08 vintage, built on the S Series chassis.

The 40' 8 bag Cayman mentioned by Camping Cayman was made from parts built by MCC and sold by Navistar before they could get their (to me) strange looking front and rear caps and Navistar Max Force engine line up and running. Probably not a whole lot of them made, but also probably a "sleeper" since all other Caymans were built on the troubled RR4R chassis. You might pay a Cayman price, which doesn't have a great name, but get equivalent of maybe a Knight or Diplomat. If I were in the position you are, I would research a 2011 Cayman.

In addition to your list, at least for 2009, there were some LaPalma diesels and of course the Monarch gassers. There was also a Riptide gasser as well as a Montclair Class C. Next on a Sprinter chassis would be the Covina class C or B, not sure.

If shopping in the '03-'08 range the Dynasty was the "best bang for the buck". The Dynasty had a lot of the high end features (think Sig) at a lower price. I had a 2007 "show coach" that Monaco built and it had alot of the same features that my 2008 Signature has. If it wasn't for the half bath and the Cummins 600 I'd still have the Dynasty...

One last questions (maybe) about technological upgrades in the Monaco ownership years.

Looking at the retreating pricing of 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 in the Dynasty, Executive and Signature series, does anyone know which year had the best technological impact/changes/upgrades?

As an example: In cars and pickups, the manufacturer will make significant upgrades and then do nothing other than color changes and add new grills for the following few years. Where did these most significant changes occur in Monaco for these years?
