Well I didn't think so when we were chasing the problem the other night but since we have turned it on, the AC has not failed to kick on following the standard two minute time out that the book describes...

What 'particular' fuse did you touch?

Even tho the AC units run on 120vac, the thermostat (and control wiring) are 12vdc. You may have bumped that fuse.
