Hey Moto - I think you are excused - after all...you were not actually a rally attendee...You were just staying at the park -and they allowed you to go in and look around. Did you even get a chance to attend seminars or anything? (I think I would have considered you as "cheap entertainment"...didn't everyone in the park get a kick of you and your miscellaneous modes of transportation? (skates being pulled by dog, your bicycle & a "crotch-rocket" motorcycle - and I am sure you had funny attire for each) ..to me..that is cheap entertainment!

Did anyone else notice that the MSRP on the Dynasty had the "Cherry Glaze" option listed twice? I guess you build in profit any way that you can.

They were very clear that the MaxForce engine will replace all other engines. This will happen over the next two years as they run out of Cummings and Cat engines.
I hope that Navistar is planning on coming out with some bigger engines. I would hate to have a Signature with anything less than the 600 HP that I have now. I've become spoiled with all that power under my right foot.....

I could be wrong on this but I believe that under the new joint venture between Cat and Navistar Navistar will be offering the Cat C-15 engine. That engine has a HP rating of 600 - 625.

Cat no longer makes a diesel engine that meets the new clean air standards. They are no longer an option in the m.h. industry.

I knew that so that was why I though NAVISTAR was going to put there EGR solution on on the CAT C-15 engine as part of the joint venture.
Here is a quote from the Joint Venture Press Release

Engine Technology
Under the alliance, Caterpillar and Navistar plan to cooperate on engine development, incorporating “best in class” technologies from both companies. Caterpillar and Navistar intend to work together on development of mid-range engines for diesel applications, such as school buses and utility trucks. This engine development would support each company’s stated path not to utilize urea-based Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology.

“There are many opportunities for technology sharing and development that would result in the ability to better meet the worldwide demand for diesel engines in both on and off-highway applications,” said Jack Allen, President, Navistar Engine Group.

I may be reading stuff into this but my though is that Navistar will use CAT big engine to get them a larger Over the Road engine.

Here's the kicker phrase in the mix. Evidently both of these companies have decided to develop another type of technology to meet the new emissions requirements. I hope they can make use of each others engineers to come up with something different than the above.

They stated at the Rally that they were going to use a ERG system which reburns the exhaust gases. I believe that their system has already been tested and meets the specs on NAVSTAR's current engines. It will cause a slight loss in HP 1 to 2 percent and Mileage about 1/10 MPG but NAVISTAR believes it will cost the consumer less that the Urea system. The EGR system will be cheaper because in the Urea system the Urea is consumed and it can spoil if it gets to hot or cold so you have to replenish or replace.
