Monaco won't stay running
Anyone have any advice? We live were it gets very cold -33 C last night. We are going to Tx. for the winter if I can this thing going. Went out on Sunday AM and it started right up no problem, after about 20 min. running the engine started to surge from fast idle to low and then died out. After several attempts it would start only run for about 2 min. then quit. So I figured it was fuel froze up. I do have 911 about 2 lts. The I replaced both filters and put 911 in them. It started up then died out again. Iam now waiting for tow truck to tow it to a shop. I just don't think now its a fuel problem but maybe some cut out that is shutting it down. Any advice would be appreciated. It has a cummins 8.3

If your fuel gelled, you need to warm it up for the anti gell to work.
We systematically pushed 30 trucks into and then drove out of our shop, one cold winter day.
Rocket heaters on the fuel tanks was our friend.

To me, it sure sounds like a fuel problem. I suspect the lift pump that supplies fuel under slight pressure to the high pressure pump has failed.

If it was actually -33 C and you had summer blend diesel fuel, your system is gelled up. The only way to cure it is to heat the engine, fuel tank, filters and lines to get things moving again, and put in a winter blend fuel.
As already mentioned, it needs to be thawed out in a warm building or you will never get to TX

Ok thanks will do a pressure check when we get into some heat, will leave it in overnight then we will know if it is fuel related, I have been thinking it might be my pump. When I turn key on there is a noise like a pump makes but it could be my other pump making that noise.

Iam not sure it is summer fuel, I filled tank up in North Dakota when coming back last sping and I did put in 911 anti-gel when I got home on April 2, they may have switched to summer by then.

We knew, when we pulled the first filter. It had gell in it.
Some trucks had clear bowl Racor filters. You could see it in them.

This may not help but I've had my engine run and then stop as well. We ended up learning that the engine's coolant level was too low.

Thank-you for the replies,it was the fuel that was gelled. Got it into some heat for the night and in the morning bled the injector lines and it fired right up. we are now in Texas.
I do have one other problem that I hope someone would know the answer, on the way here I got a anti-freeze leak coming from one of the two lines that run along engine on passenger side looks like they come off the pump run to trans. They are steel lines, stopped at a shop and got a temporary fix it was a pin hole caused by rust.
The question is are these lines still available if so where do u purchase, I would get new ones made but they look like a special kind of fitting on each end. Searched internet but could not find anything on this, any help would be appreciated.

I stated that the lines ran to tranny but maybe after thinking about it they may only run to back of engine.

There are coolant line from front of engine to the air compressor, mounted just ahead of the bell housing. Could be them.
