Safe-T-Plus on my Camelot - impressions

I had a Safe-T-Plus installed in April and I'm very satisfied with the unit. No additional steering effort is required as far as I can tell and while my rig never wandered a lot it is even easier to keep in lanes now. I haven't been in any super strong winds yet but it has helped when a couple of strong gusts hit crossing a bridge.

I can vouch for how much it does help when you drop a tire off the side of the road! I was on a narrow two lane Vermont highway when a big rig coming from the other direction took the corner too fast and cross the centerline. I swerved to the right and my right front tire dropped off the pavement to the dirt shoulder; the drop was several inches and abrupt but the steering wheel never jerked in my hand and I was easily able to slow down and get back on the road.

Rig is a 2006 Camelot 40PAQ.

I installed the Watts link made by Mike Hughes and it made a 100% improvement in handling. I can drive in a good cross wind with two fingers on the wheel if I want. I'm 78 years old and installed my front watts link myself while laying in the gravel of a site in Laughlin, NV. I also installed the rear X-bars on the trailing arms that also made a huge improvement. I would highly recommend the Watts link kit and X-bars for the Monaco RR frame.

Jim,

The TRW will have a bolt thru the top of the Pitman arm that clamps the Pitman to the spline shaft. The Shepard does not have a bolt and the Pitman arm is attached to the steering sector by a large locking nut.

Look at post #1346 in this thread for a picture of how the Shepard Pitman arm is attached to the steering sector.
