Motor home doesn't go above 25mph
Hey all,
I have a 1990 Holiday Rambler-Monitor Ford F-53 chassis with the 460 in it.
Recent work done:
New Full tune up
New Fuel pump
Fuel system flushed
Injectors cleaned
New ICM
Checked catalytic converter and it's cleared
PROBLEM:
I have not been able to get my rig past 25mph. It bogs down and backfires every now and then. If I let it cool down for an hour or so, I can get moving again.
Speedometer and milage do not work. Overdrive light keeps flashing. So far no codes. Just have 26 more miles to get it home.
Solution??

Check all vacuum lines, PVC valve, and also your air cleaner. In neutral, can you increase RPMs without issue?

Not having had the same situation but owning an F53 I did a Google Search of "FORD F53 won't go past 25 mph bogs down and backfires speedometer and mileage don't work Overdrive light keeps flashing." and found that the Flashing Overdrive light on the Fords is the Check Engine light for the transmission. The search produced many hits but no quick fixes. Mostly take it your dealer advice. I would check the transmission fluid so the transmission doesn't burn up as the problem may be just a sensor. Sorry I can't help further.

In park or neutral I can get up to 5200 rpm for a short time before it bogs down and then I can get past 3k rpm

Sounds almost like a clogged fuel filter, but by the list of recent work you did, Im sure you have replaced the filter.

Not a good idea to spool it up to 5400 RPM in neutral. In addition to all the other suggestions, you might want to check for a malfunctioning TPS (throttle positioning sensor) Just a thought..
Good luck resolving your problem and please let us know the fix when you find it...

Check fuel pressure with a gauge, get one at chain auto parts store on loaner program.
Did this issue come up after the work was done or was the work done cause of this problem
