The work on the building began today. They brought in 14 truck and trailer loads of fill to bring the grade up to start the project.

Howdy DBOL,
Don't be too sure about that(no regs)!!! A couple of legislatures ago a bill was passed giving authority to ALL GOVERNMENTAL bodies to enforce BUILDING CODES EVERYWHERE IN THE GLORIOUS LAND OF TEXAS!!!!!!!!
Even on my ranch I am not supposed to build ANYTHING without a building permit!! Or change out a hot-water heater without a plumber and a permit.
What the inspector told me was START AFTER 5PM ON FRIDAY AND FINISH UP SUNDAY, BECAUSE WE DON'T WORK ON THE WEEK-ENDS!!!!

Barlow46: No outrageous requirements but permit cost me $1,500 which is about 5 times what I paid to build my shop back in 1994, which was the same size as the new RV garage but was a wood structure and had electrical. I live in the county, if I was in the city limits it would have be close to twice that amount. Not much I can do if I wanted to be legal. Building per the permit will not have electricity, water or sewer dump but it will be plumbed and happen after final inspection.

justimagination: Trees being removed were Walnut but I'm not sure what the tall bushes in the background are as they are my neighbors.

Will post more photos as project progresses, unfortunately it rained a bit today so have to wait until tomorrow hopefully to finish leveling and start to dig foundation.

Building our garage...there were days I thought I would have to leave and not come back until it was finished....

Almost finished.

This was the RV we had when I signed up...thus the screen name. The UFO has about 3 to 5 inches clearance on each end when the doors are closed!

Good luck with yours, it sure is nice to tuck her away after a long journey.

here in wood county........permits, we dont need no stinking permits, at least if your not a house on private county land. They simply don't care, except to tax you on your addition

You will love having it inside. We finished ours in phases. First phase was a parking pad. Next came a roof to make a carport type thing. Next came the walls and last came the big garage door. Took over 8 years but it was not planned that way. I thought a pad was good enough for the fifth wheel. Then when we got the gas mh I thought a roof would be nice. Then came the Ambassador and all was well till some field mice chewed up a wiring loom over the engine. Thought maybe walls would at least slow them down. Then decided walls were no good without a door, and finally last year added a door. It sure would have been easier and probably cheaper to have done it all at once.

My building permit here in the Sooner state was $19, no inspection required since it was not for habitation.

I will trade a bunch of white stuff for all that green. Can't wait for spring.
