So let me preface this story by saying I am a germ freak. Not as bad as Howard Hughes was but close. I wash my hands many, many times per day and use pure rubbing alcohol on every cut and scrape. So we took then new Dynasty out for the shake down. It has the Sani-Con system. When I was ready to dump the tanks I did just like they told me at the RV dealer. Put the end of the Sani con into the sewer pipe, pull the black valve open and turn on the sani-con. I did. The Sanicon was working and "stuff" was coming out of the coach but nothing draining in the sewer. So I closed the black valve, shut off the Sanicon pump and removed the hose from the RV park sewer dump. Guess what I forgot... the little cap on the sewer end of the hose! Now I have a hose pressureized with waste but the cap still on the dump end. So I hold the end over the sewer and slowly remove the cap..one turn, two then the pressure starts blowing waste out the end in every direction, cap still partially on and I get covered! I was hating Sanicon and monaco at that moment in time! After I finally got the system drained and after 4 showers, one of which included a 1/2 bottle of rubbing alcohol I made a mental note..never forget the cap again!

Didn't someone say that "s#%t happens" no matter how careful you are
I am also someone who has had a "dooty" accident early on in my RV experience. MM is right, it only happens once!!!!!

heh - so I guess you are saying that you don't typically grab a Slim Jim out of the tub at 7-11, or eat peanuts out of the community germ-bowl at the local pub?

Sorry for my laughter while reading about your experience. The only reason it was so funny was because it brought back memories of a time that I did that myself. I was lucky tho (somewhat) - the hose connection on the "poopy wand" gave out, so I pumped a bit of grey water out on some gravel. I felt like a dork, but I suppose I am lucky that I didn't get covered by the whipping stink snake.

I am curious - for the sake of science and prospect of me doing this again in the future - do you think if you turn off the SaniCon, then re-open one of the tank valves, it would take enough pressure off of the system so that it doesn't erupt when you take off the cap? I don't necessarily want to be the one to test this theory, but will report back if it becomes a necessity

Sorry to hear the crappie news. You should let the producers of "RV the Movie" know maybe they can use this in a sequel.

Oh man, that stinks to high heaven!

I have forgotten to take my cap off on 2 seperate occasions. I always wear gloves when doing the deed, but didn't get any stank on me anyway.

I always start by draining the gray water for about 30 seconds first and then close it's valve and open the black. That way if there is going to be a problem, I don't have a hose full of the nasty.

On both of the occasions that I forgot the cap, I turned off the pump first and "then" shut the valve. When I removed the cap, I held the wand at waist level so that gravity would do it's thing.

I hope you have better luck in the future.

Paul

I'm sorry, but I was laughing like crazy when I read your post - not because of what happened to you - but because you told the story so well.

Gee, Barton, sounds like that has NEVER EVER happened to ANY of us before, eh? Naw, nope, uh-uh, no-way. Sorry to hear about the learning-experience there, bummer.
