Looks like a quick fix, only 56 units

Hmmm... I have a 2009 Camelot with adjustable brake pedals. The recall is for units built between 2008 and 2009, which mine was... but mine was built by Monaco, not Navistar so this is rather confusing. So I guess I better call and find out more.

JohnCamelot it seems to me that the recall only affects 2010 Camelots, not 2009. I'm interested if they mean to include the 2009 model year as well as I also have a 2009 Camelot

I called Navistar (Monaco RV) yesterday regarding my 2009 HR Ambassador. They said that because my coach was manufactured by Monaco Coach, not Monaco RV, I would have to work through the pedal assembly manfacturer, Kongsberg Power Products Systems. If you go to NHTSA's website, look up the recall (NHTSA campaign #10V014000) and examine the documents, it appeared to me that Navistar would have responsibility for units they "inherited" from Monaco's inventory when they bought the company.
I'm not sure. Either way, I will want mine checked and serviced. I encourage everyone who thinks they are/might be affected to visit NHTSA's website and examine the documentation regarding this safety recall.

The information on the Navistar link provided states: "The recall affects the following units manufactured between Jan. 22, 2008 and Oct. 27, 2009 with adjustable power brake pedals supplied by Kongsberg Power Products Systems" Isn't some of this time period before the purchase which I think occurred sometime in the spring or early summer of 2009. So it is interesting that a good number of the coaches listed probably were manufactured before the Navistar purchase. This would imply that only coaches with the defective brake pedal, regardless of who made them, would be listed. Make sense?? The specific coaches, by coach number, should be listed somewhere as part of the recall; has anyone seen such a list. I also believe NHTSA keeps data regarding which units are recalled and also when and if they are repaired.

Regarding the Camelot, I have a 2009 model like Pat and since it is not on the list I think the problem doesn't relate to our coaches - but I intend to check. The VIN indicates the unique serial (sequence) number for the coach so this will show if was manufactured in the subject date range.

I just received my notice from Monaco RV, LLC concerning the recall. Purchased the coach late last year it was built early in 2008. Question, is this something I can install or do I have to take it to a dealer. Since the closest dealer for me is about 150 miles away I'd prefer not to have to waste the fuel if it's not necessary.

Recalls are required to done by a dealer/manufacturer/authorized service center to satisfy the recall requirements of documentation and proper correction of the defects.

Interesting development - I emailed Monaco RV with the VIN of our 2009 Camelot (not listed on the recall announcement) and asked if our unit has the defective pedal assembly. Got the following answer:

"You do have the recalled brake pedals Kongsberg will contact with information on getting this recall done"

We'll see what happens next. In the mean time I will try to find out if there is some sort of inspection I can do to make sure failure is not imminent.

A quick search of the internet shows that the Kongsberg brake pedal recall is applicable to many other motorhome brands as well as many large trucks. It looks like it is a very big recall coverings many vehicle manufacturers who used these Kongsberg brake pedal assemblies. There is one site that lists about six different Kongsberg recall numbers with defective part serial numbers - sorry I didn't copy the URL but a Google search on the words Kongsberg and brake should pop it up.

It is not just Monaco doing the recall. It is manufacturers using the Kongsberg System. Seems there are almost 13,000 of the affected assemblies.

Here are the affected part #s

I did a quick look under the dash of my coach and at the documents on the the NHTSA website. I do have one of the recalled assemblies (P/N 77025-501) in my 09 Ambassador.. In documentation related to the recall on the website, it's stated that since Monaco Coach filed bankruptcy, the notification letter was sent to the Chapter 7 trustee and his/her counsel.
Has anyone else with an affected Monaco Coach coach heard anything? I've received nothing so far, so who should I be hearing from on this matter?
