NC Best Insurance
What is the best RV insurance for use in the State of North Carolina?
Our current insurer stopped issuing RV insurance. We have to select a new carrier. We have State Farm for all of our other vehicles, but their rate is double what we had. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I am in NC and I use Gilbert rv insurance out of FL. They have always given me a great price and good service. I've been with them over 16 years now. A couple times the company has ceased insuring rvs but they've always found other good companies with similar rates.

I'm in NC and I have Progressive. They have the best rate I could find. Like you, I have State Farm for everything else, but their rate was more than double progressive. I shopped several including BlueSky which was still more than Progressive.

I've been with Progressive for several years and have been pleased. However, when we began full-timing, I checked with Miller Insurance and they quoted a much cheaper policy with Allied... which has better coverage.

Thanks Ron.. i'll check with Gilbert too. I really don't understand State Farm. I'v read on this and other forums that folks are satisfied with them for their RV coverage. Possibly that is other states than NC. I could understand being somewhat higher, but more than twice?! SF quoted me about 15% more for a 6 month policy than others did for a full year.

I used Gilbert for years. Always had great service. They sold to RvAmerica Ins a few years ago. Hopefully they kept the same employees.

When we bought the Magna we found that Allied through Miller was about half the price of Good Sam. Had trouble getting the paperwork straight though as they "lost" the paperwork for my safe driver course then they gave us a multi policy discount and we never said we were going to move the house insurance over. Finally have it all straight now but hope we never have to file a claim!

NC Best Insurance
Hope op got some information to help.
Don't want to hijack, but since we have several North Carolinians here, let me ask...where do you get your DP NC inspected? My gasser had plenty of options, but I understand that the DP has to get inspected at an air brake approved station.

I get mine inspected at my local garage. My guy does not inspect the air brakes but checks all the other normally required checks. I think all that's required of a shop is to be able to get it inside the place.
