I have a 1997 Beaver with a Hunter Digital Programmable thermostat model 44250A with blue green yellow brown red and orange wires that I want to replace. I purchased a Honeywell Nonprogrammable model CT 31A that has Y R W and G terminals. Don't know if compatible and afraid to guess Sure could use some advice. Thank You, Tom

is your hvac unit a heat pump, an a/c with a heat strip or simply a/c, from your wiring - it appears more than simple a/c, were all the wires connected, according to thermostat docs, you have more wires than lugs? some thermostats have a/c, heating, manual fan and manual emergency heat, outside thermal sensor, etc - that's were you get into trouble, but that is for home units, I doubt a mobile unit would be that elaborate - what is the model number of the hvac unit?

I think you are wise to exercise caution with this one.

I could be wrong, but I don't think the Hunter thermostat is factory original. I think the original thermostat was analog, and was changed out for the Hunter digital.

Check the modmyrv.com website. They explain in detail how to install the Hunter thermostat to replace the original analog thermostat.

Hope this helps.

Jim

The original analog thermostats are notorious for their inaccuracies with temperature control. I have long dreamed of changing mine out for a Hunter digital, but continue to procrastinate doing it because of my doubts in my abilities with things electronic.

Our analog thermostat will not control temperature below approximately 67 deg., with about a 4 deg temperature swing. This is not good for heating. We find it to be OK for AC control. I have also been considering the install of a simple thermostat for just the furnace, mounting it on the wall beside the original thermostat.

I think you are right about the thermostat being a replacement. The wires out of the furnace are far different than the ones at the stat. Wire size and colors change some where inside the refrigerator box, an are spliced outside the furnace also. Glad you started me on the right track. I am going to fall back and regroup as I don't want to remove the frige now. With this I mind I don't think things are as bad as I thought. Thanks Again. Tom
