Need help with replacing slide toppers/awnings
I have a 2005 Monaco Diplomat PAQ 40 ft and I'm trying to figure out replacing my awning and slide toppers. I have checked around and found a RV repair shop, they said find the tag or something with the information as to size color ect, tell the parts dept to order the parts and they parts dept makes the appointment, bring the MH in. I asked for a idea of cost they said 2 hours labor for slide topper $175.00. Seems high to me and I could only find information on 1 awning. Any ideas where the information is on the canvas. Several people said they always find the info on the roller at the end. I have measured the canvas and I going to call again and see what I can find. I don't like the idea of me measuring the toppers and awnings and call the order in. Any info about doing this would be very helpful.
Thanks

You may want to look at Stone Vos website. I believe they have measuring instructions. I've read on this site that they make great toppers.

I helped a friend install four Stone Vos toppers. Fairly easy for two people and the fit was perfect. Starting from scratch, gathering tools, removing old topper could easily take two hours each.

As noted, please check with StoneVos before replacing anything. They can walk you thru the process, and do it with a lot less pain and money.
I also have a PAQ, and had a 'reputable' shop tell me several years ago that I needed to have the topper stitches re-sewn to the cost of almost $900 ( ). A year later, one topper blew off during a tropical storm, so I had the same shop replace them all because the stitching was going bad again ( ). They outsourced the toppers, and when they came back they were too small ( ).
Found StoneVos and they made everything perfect ( ). Much stronger fabric, and almost unbreakable stitching/thread. Chris/Ingrid will help you find the tags/info for new toppers/awnings (should be stickers attached to the awning/topper rollers), and walk you thru the entire process. I see you're located in Florida, StoneVos isn't far away and they can do them for you.
Small print: Not associated in any way with StoneVos, they just make good stuff!

Got out replacement toppers from Stone Vos and put them on myself. It's not an easy job but pretty simple.

Another option is Tough Top Awnings.
RV Slide-Out Topper Awning Replacement Fabric Installation
They have an instruction video.
I purchased from them and hopefully will install within the next week. It is a two man job but not overly difficult, at least based on what I see in the video.
Good luck!

Chris at Stone Vos can give you a lot of help. You can take a pic of the slide toppers and send to him. He will identify it and tell you what you need! He was able to supply the EXACT fabric that came on my Windsor in 2002! Their acrylic fabric is top-of-the-line!

Don't be afraid to measure the awnings yourself and get them made for you. You will need to choose a fabric - I recommend Sunbrella acrylic. And when measuring the distance from the coach to the roller, don't forget to add enough to wrap around the roller tube about two extra times so that when the slide is out, about two turns of fabric still remain on the roller. When measuring the length along the side of the coach, simply measure the width of the slide at the top and add one inch at each end for overlap. This should do it.
Finally be very careful not to release the spring! Rewinding them is a pia. For expert help, check out the many rv awning videos on You Tube. I particularly recommend the awning videos or the "RV Geeks" also on You Tube.
I did my 24' full wall slide myself but I don't recommend it. An easy job for two people though.
Good luck!

If you decide to have it done Alliance Coach in Wildwood Fl will match the cloth and make the awanings at their facility. Not sure of prices as mine were replaced when I purchased the Coach but they did a good job. They have a camping area onsite that you can stay in while work is being done.
