Need To Install A New Cord On The Front Windshield Power Drapes!

Has anyone restrung a new cord on the front windshield power drapes? Our drapes have a power button behind the driver seat that draws the drapes to the center and then retracts them back to the side windows. Our cord broke because of the heat from the front windshield and wear & tear. I have looked closely at the rail and roller set-up but can't figure out how to string the new cord so it will pull to the center and retract back to the sides? Also, what type of cord is recommended (nylon/ ?) My guess is that I will need about 25ft. of cord. Sure could use some help with this project!

A drape that opens to the sides ????
Is that stock ?
I didn't think that was legal - Kalifornia would probably through you in jail for covering 1/8th of an inch of windshield

Good luck on your repair !

Hi JohnBoyToo,

Our front drapes draw to the center to close and retract from center point to go back to both sides. Just like some of the earlier livingroom drapes would do at homes.

We have the same motorhome. The motor that powers the drapes is not strong enough to pull the curtains closed. So we need advice too

Hi Stretch,
What I had to do was rail maintenance. Tighten up everything and smooth out the track. That took the load off the motor. Now after I string the new cord I know it will work. What I can't figure out is how to lay the cord in such a way that it will close to center and open to the sides.

I was able to answer my own question by watching a U tube video on "How to restring a traverse rod". Because that is all it is.
