Our 09 HR Scepter 40ft. QDP has only one night stand. Has anyone figured out how to add a small shelf on the other side of the king bed? Thanks, RARN

RARN..I have moved your blog out here so others may see it.
This is a floorplan of the King size bed layout (the actual floorplan is different -but the bed layout is what will effect the other nightstand.)
OK - I do have a question ...what will you be placing on this "nightstand"?

I have the same layout in my 42 foot '09 Camelot. It is obvious the design was intended to be a queen bed, with a night stand on either side. The "cabinet" below the bed frame is made for a queen, to make the optional king they just deleted one night stand and put a larger plywood mattress support in it.
We would also like to have at least a shelf to hold a glass of water but we haven't found a way to do so. We'd be interested if someone found a way, short of switching back to a queen...

We have '07 Scepter with the king bed and only one night stand. I wanted another one for glasses and watch. I used the 3M adheasive strips with the pull to remove tabs. I mounted a small plastic basket (about 8X2X2 open weave) like the ones used as drawer organizers just below the window. It's more than large enough for what we need, and the 3M strips means it can easily be removed whenever needed. To hold somethiong a little heavier, I would think you could take a small decorative shelf with shelf supports beneath it and mount it with the 3M strips as well.

Our 04 HR Imperial has a Queen bed with nightstands on both sides. The biggest problem I see is that the bed becomes very difficult to make up properly when there are obstructions on the head end corners. I have to help with it because of back strain. Turning the mattress is another subject altogether!!
Probably mounting a small shelf on the wall is best but be aware of obstructing access to the mattress.

Two common ways to add a shelf are angle brackets (Get 'em at any hardware) or dowel rod/pins.. Same source

The bracket and screw approach needs to be used with caution. The 3/16 cherry wood paneling that is used on my 09 Safari coach would need to be reinforced to hold the screws. Check for electical or plumbing in the wall. My problem is when I lift the bed the Mattress would clip the shelf.

Hi,
Just a thought, put a cup hook in the bottom of the cupboards over the bed.
Get a small basket or something similar and hang with a chain, easy to take off when you need the room Mount it back as far as possible and to the outside

We used this on a former MH as a laptop stand on the wall next to my chair. The quality was impressive for the price. When you get up in the morning, just fold it back down.
If you do not like the size or the wood, you could have it cut down smaller or have one made once you see how it works. You can see them at Camping World or other RV Stores, they are intended to be counter top extensions. They are made by Camco and have many uses.

Think cup holder instead of a shelf....

Box in your window valance and it can serve as double duty. Now you have a shelf for your glasses or pull the shade all the way to the sill to down to black out the bedroom in daylight hours.
