I appreciate all of the advise and comments. Progressive will warranty the repair for life if I use their approved shop. Their two approved facilities within 50 miles are Giant RV and Fairway Ford's RV Department.

My neighbor (with the reflective glass) actually recommended Fairway Ford RV before Progressive inspected the coach. He said their body shop has a great reputation. If anybody has comments about either -- good or bad -- I would greatly appreciate your feedback.

BTW, the field adjuster's estimate came in at "roughly $5,000." I was thinking 3-4 times that to repair fiberglass and repaint the wall and slide?

Most field adjusters are trained in "estimating" cars and trucks. The bodyshop will most likely ask for a supplement.

BTW, Progressive only warrants the work as long as you're a Progressive customer. Should you change carriers and a year later there is a problem, don't look for Progressive to help. The real warranty come from the bodyshop, not the insurance provider.

Interesting - I saw a news story the other day of a someone in L.A. (I believe) who's Toyota suffered heat damage to the side view mirrors because of light reflecting off an energy saving window.

I guess they have a coating on them that reflects back far more light than 'regular' glass, and it acts similar to a magnifying glass. This doesn't surprise me at all, and I look for this to become much more common as more and more of these windows are installed.

A different coating is in order, or elimination of that coating altogether. Insurance companies aren't going to want to cover this type of damage if it becomes commonplace, and we, as homeowners won't want to pay out of pocket for damages to someone else's property.
