Beaudry RV in Tucson has a 33 SFS listed as new with no miles. What are your thoughts about this unit? Why would it be this old and not have been purchased at some time? What questions to ask?
Thanks

Here is another dealer to check inventory. They had some new 2008 DP's and maybe some Monarchs. Perhaps the color and floor plan are not desirable to most but that is a personal prefrence like picking out a house, or it could be on a Workhorse chassis with the old brakes that need to be upgraded and the people are afraid of potential problems.
Take a close look at the interior and see if has been abused like a show display. Do you prefer the F53 Ford Chassis or the Workhorse. I would look at both the Workhorse and the Ford F53 forum. There are alot of unhappy Workhorse customers, (the WH Chassis is great), but the way that they have prolonged the brake replacement has alot of people very upset, including one of my close friends. If it is a 2008 on a WH chassis it will almost certain have the brakes that need to be replaced. If you purchase it make sure that the new brake upgrade has been installed and verify it before you sign anything. It has been over a year since my friend was notified of the potential brake problems and he still does not have a date that this will be completed.
Just my humble opnion

Hey MizzourMule - Agree with everything Hardy says. We bought from DeMartini and had a good buying experience. Their salespeople are the best informed, least pushy, RV salespeople we've ever worked with and would buy from them again. Many others here also are happy DeMartini customers.
To your question, I'd take a hard look at all systems, run each of them long enough to tell whether they're going to work for you. Make the dealer replace all fluids or agree to do so in the first year of ownership. If it's an '08 it may have been produced in '07 so it's already two years going on three years old. You won't have a manufacturer's warranty as the former Monaco Coach is bankrupt and the new Monaco LLC does not take any warranty responsibility for MH's that were produced pre-bankruptcy. So negotiate long and hard and/or insist the dealer throw in an extended warranty at no cost to you.
Take a good look at the wiring under the house: our 12V wiring was apparently held up by shoes laces or something stupid as it failed in two places. In one case a 12V cable fell on our driveshaft and wore through, in another case a 12v wiring harness was laid across the exhaust manifold and melted through. Needless to say each of these experiences was scary in their own unique way, and without a manufacturer's warranty we paid out of pocket to fix them.
We've been very happy with the house portion of our Monaco 33SFS, including the full-wall slide. We're particularly happy with the extra room it gives us. The cabinets, furniture, etc. are all good, and the design just delights us every time we take her out.
Good luck in your decision-making process; you've found the right place to ask for help!

MizzourMule, just wanted to throw in our comment about the workhorse chassis. We looked at a LOT of those 33SFS units last January and almost bought one... before we stumbled across a Safari Trek on the lot. ( Hadn't realized they were still being made in 2008). Anyway, we bought the Trek.... its kinda a sister to the Monarch I think, in many respects. We have the Workhorse chassis, and contrary to other comments, we have had no problem with the brakes. Yes, there is a recall pending... basically a caliper replacement, but if your read the rather extensive service notice information on this recall on the Workhorse chassis forum, you should, as I have, realize there is little to be concerned with if you don't overheat the brakes much.
We love our 2008 Trek, and I expect you will love your Monarch, too. As the other poster said, make sure you have some kind of guaranty from Beaudry , given that Monaco has no warranty for you. We got caught on that issue and it cost us a couple thousand dollars in what should have been normal dealer Warranty work.
