My wife's fallen in love with the front kitchen 2008 Knight skq...
There is one here local, 10,000 miles, listed for 149k.
Another we found listed a "NEW" at 179, tho they went down to 167 pretty easily. This one has a really cool wrap around J lounge and dinette setup that I really like.
They tell me they can offer a navistar new coach warrantee on this 2008, something I'm pretty sure is bull***t
If I can get then down to the 149k range, is this orphan a good buy?
I don't know a lot about Monaco, other than that they were a highly respected brand right up until the point where they went under and stuck everyone with a ton of coaches with no warrantee.

I don't care what the dealer says it's three year old and should treated as such. It's not new.

Actually, some mfr's already have 2012's out, so I'd consider it a 4 y.o. coach - that's another several thousand dollars off.

Hi , DW loves front kitchen on our Holiday Rambler Imperial. We are outside people and it makes to much sense not to track through salon to get to fridge. Also no carpet, all ceramic tile Easy to keep clean. Enjoy!

Our coach is a 2008, consereded 31/2 years old with some 2012 models out. Check on line N.A.D.A. put all the if any extras in and there is your price. Adjust for condition and millage.

We bought a new 2008 in December of 2009, and the warranty was honoured by Monaco for a year. They replaced a few things, including the rear suspension beams, without a whimper. I pretty much got all of the "first year failures" taken care of in the first year.
I'm still dismayed at the stories I'm reading about folks who paid their own way, but I am willing to show proof that they treated me fairly. This coach was purchased in Canada, and I am Canadian. Whether that made any difference, who knows? We are pleased with the deal we got in Kelowna, and the motor home.

Jim
The price seems a little high, I bought my 2008 Endeavor brand new in 2009 for just under $160K, the MSRP was over $265K. The market is a little better now than it was then, but I would think that around $140K might be a better price. See how hungry they are. I really doubt that they can offer the Navistar warranty, when we bought ours we got a MEC policy, Monaco Extended Care, but it is underwritten by a private insurance broker, they may have the same thing for Navistar.

I had a 2006 Knight and then bought a 2008 Camelot "new" from a dealer in December of 2009. Based on what I paid for Camelot with under 5k miles, I think what they are asking for this 2008 Knight might be a wee bit high, but not grossly so. I agree with DennisZ that $140 might be closer to where you should be, but by the time you get done dickering that's probalby where you can be.
My 06 Knight was still on the dealer's lot three or so months ago and they were asking $119. That rig has about 20k on it and, of course, it's two years older and does not have the front kitchen. My guess is they'd let it go for $110 or a bit less.
In any case, that 08 Knight will be a good coach. I agree also with DennisZ and your own thought that, regardless of what the dealer says, you are NOT getting Navistar to stand behind an 08 Monaco coach. But based on my experience with two Monacos, the manufactuer warranty is no big deal. If you are worried, any decent aftermarket warranty (Coachnet, Good Sam, etc) should stand you in good stead.

We paid $139.9K Can in Dec 2009 (Can $ was slightly lower than US $ at the time). This unit was NEW. We traded a 2003 Triple E Embassy V10 30' for this 2008 Monaco Cayman 37PDQ, and paid $112K difference. The US economy was really ill at the time, and this was bankrupcy inventory until my Canadian dealer bought it (I think?).
If a dealer (who represents the manufacturer) puts warranty in writing, there are no decisions to be made. A legal deal is a legal deal.

" ALERT ALERT, Bullsh*t level def-con 5...." I find it very hard to believe that Navistar is going to warranty something that wasn't theirs... .
This coach is 4 model years old now. Ask them to let you see their whole sale book and see what they would offer you if you were trading it in. Then sweeten it by a couple of grand for the "options" that they would try to tattoo you on if you were trading.

Easy enough to contact Monaco to ask. Who knows what deals they made to bring dealers back. I have seen a 4 year old Ford van on a dealer lot that had never been titled, it was still covered by the dealer new vehicle warranty.
The issues here are "lot rot" and Monaco's bankruptcy. Monaco stopped honoring warranties, so this is a question. A vehicle that has not been used for 4 years is likely to have a fair number of issues. I bought a 2006 Beaver that had more or less sat for 4 years. Cost $10,000 to make everything more or less right. It sat in Florida humidity, which is a factor. Your tires are already over 1/3 through their life even if they have never been turned.
Having said that, it looks to be a good price and if you like it, buy it.
By the way, I bought mine cheap enough the $10k was not important, keep that in mind.

We skipped this one due to the potential lot rot issue, along with the dealers failure to even call me back when he was stuck at $167k and I was at 140k.
If anyone wants it, it's in texas, I don't recall the dealer name, one of the large ones.
We scored an honestly used 08 knight sqk at Lazydays, pick her up in 2 weeks, I can't wait!!!
