Just reading thru the owners manual.
" If only 30A is available, after plugging in, wait aprox 1 hr before turning on any apliances" .

.......... Really ? Does anyone actually do this?

I'll be interested in the responces, as that makes NO sence at all. I can see a minute or so for the EMS to settle in, but 1 hr makes no sence for electrical.

If I ever decided to buy a Monaco, please give me a swift kick ( personal joke between me and wideglide).

It's a minute if you plug into 50A, an hour for 30A. Only thing I can think of is to allow the charger to bulk charge all of the batteries, but usually, you've been driving a few hours, and your batteries are topped up .
Cant see many people following this instruction.

Your logic seems correct, but your batteries would have to be flat to suck 30a and that would only be at 12 vdc, not even close at 120vac at 30amps. Besides that, the coach should be protected for any over amperage anyway. I'm no less confused than you are.

Here's a copy/ paste from the manual ....

When Hooked to 50 Amps:
After verifying proper voltage, wait
approximately one minute for the inverter/
charger to stabilize charging of the batteries
before starting air conditioners or other large
AC loads.
When Hooked to 30 Amps:
If 50 Amp service is not available,
wait approximately one hour before
operating electric appliances. Use caution
when operating appliances to avoid
overloading the supplied shore service
breaker. Operate appliances and outlets in
sequence rather than all at the same time.

I'm surprised you even considered this. Overkill instructions to indoctrinate a new owner with no electrical knowledge in the differences between 30 and 50 amp. Apparently they are more worried an owner might have to reset a breaker on the pedistal, than sweating their butt off inside waiting an hour to turn the A/C on..... rediculous.

Yeah, it as more a curiosity to me than anything else. I've never heard of this before .
Suppose I should have started a new thread on the topic.

I have found that if I have the charge rate for the batteries set to 80 -100% the charger will start charging the batteries drawing about 10 amps. My AC draw is about 20 amps at start up. So as you can see you may be drawing more that the campsite power can provide. The EMS system in the coach will cut off devices to keep the load under the available power but the EMS does not sense the power being used by the battery charger.

Hmmm.... Never heard of an EMS that didn't monitor all circuits in a coach, would seem to defeat it's purpose.
