1st time official post - so far I have been trying to hide from MonacoMama - but she keeps findind me - she must be one of those all seeing, all knowing types...

Our story:
We used to drive a 2005 Hurricane 34N – we were the coach in far right hand lane with our blinkers on going up hill at 10 mph (in overdrive). I'm sure most all of you passed us!

Our generator stopped working on our last outing to Colorado so on our way home (Oskaloosa, Iowa) we stopped at the Campiing World store in Council Bluffs to get a fix. Almost before I knew we were even looking - we had traded up to a LaPalma 36SBD. Will be delivered this Saturday. (Had a screw hole in the fresh water tank)

I have been scanning through the last 40+ pages of posts and did not see where anyone admitted to purchasing their Monaco at a Camping World store. In fact I got the impression that CW did not rank very high with some of you. We felt comfortable there and think we were treated pretty good - but - it was an "impulse buy" done without any research.

Did we do OK per you experts? Any stories on CW service?

I am sure we will enjoy our Monaco for many years and look forward to meeting some of you down the road. ron

Congrats on the new coach! We live only 10 miles from the store you bought your coach from. I have used the service dept and was treated excellent with the service performed and quaility of work. I was not aware Camping World was a Monaco dealer. Will have to look into that. Again congrats on the new wheels! Want to race up the hill?

All of my best purchases are impulse buys My three prior RVs were purchased on a whim, but I did do lots of looking for my Monaco. Seems you got it right - even on impulse

I think Camping World is just a slow moving target for criticism, kind of like Wal*Mart. They are easy to talk smack about, but first on the stop list when you need stuff. If your experience with their sales department was like my experience with their service dept, you were treated well. That's all a guy can ask for when dropping his hard-earned coin.

Congrats on the new ride!!

CW in Council Bluffs, eh?? Probably better that you traded - they charged us $150 NOT to fix our in-warranty Onan, for which they are supposedly an authorized service agent. Supposedly parts were not available, period.

Ironically, after some research and a few phone calls, it was fixed in less than 4 hours - for free, with $1600 worth of free parts - at Cummins / Onan in Little Rock. (Who had the parts flown in to meet up with our schedule!!)
