New Monaco Owners
Purchased, but haven't picked up yet, a 2006 Monaco Diplomat. We have put the 2000 Itasca Horizon up for sale. It's been a great coach, but we were looking for a little more room, with the idea that we may sell the S&B in a couple of years so we can move closer to the grandkids.

Congratulations. We've been very happy with the quality of our Knight. With the Diplomat being higher on the Monaco luxury list, I'll bet you'll have a great experience.

Congratulations. We purchased a 2006 Camelot and still love it. All three kids were raised with fantastic memories going places in the Motorhome. Youngest is now a senior in high school, and so after this year we hope to use it even more. I have learned a lot from the talented people on this forum, you will too!

Thanks for your response. I have downloaded the Owner's Manual for the Diplomat, and have been boning up to find any major differences in operation between Monaco and the Itasca. The leveling system is a bit different, with the Monaco having only one jack in the center in front. So far, I haven't found detailed info on leveling the Monaco. For instance, the Winnebago/Itasca instructions specifically say to level side-to-side first, then front-to-back. I always did it that way, and never had a problem. The Winnie HWH leveling system depletes the air bags when you turn it on, then you put the slides out after leveling. I believe the Monaco calls for the slides to be deployed with the air suspension inflated, and I haven't seen anything about having leveled first. Any info on that? Thanks!

I would recommend that you follow the owners manual closely, as every coach has different requirements.

hello, we have an 07 knight 40skt........love the set up..........when we roll into a campsite, i first check the level at ride height, if level and we are only staying for a short time, i put the slides out and do nothing else.........if staying for a long time and the site is level, i will put the slides out and deflate the bags, don't always use the leveling jacks....................if site is unlevel, i level it first, then put the slides out, then deflate the air bags if they haven't already deflated.....................when leaving, we start the coach, air up, then bring the slides in and retract the leveling jacks...........the one thing i make sure i do is always have air in bags when putting out or retracting slides...............seems to work......................

We've been full-time in our 2006 Diplomat 40PDQ for six years and have thoroughly enjoyed its amenities.
Our owners manual did not specify the steps for leveling (hydraulic only, not air). So I talked to a legacy tech on the Monaco tech line and another at a Monaco International Rally a several years ago. They were very specific about the procedure for the 3-jack system:
1) Slides out at ride height
2) Level the rig
This sequence is the result of how the rigs were built in 2006 and how the body flexes when being jacked. They also told me that I do not have to drain the airbags. However, I do drain the airbags when I need a little more leeway to get level.
Please note that every time that I've tried to level the rig on a very out-of-level site, enough pressure has been placed on the windshield to almost pop it loose.
Safe travels!

On a three jack system always extend the front/single jack first then do the rears. That allows the front to pivot. Due the rears without the front allow twists, and could crack windshield. Experience talking. Bin dar, dun dat. Enjoy. Don

Don, thanks a million for this response. That makes sense to me. I appreciate your help.

Be careful with leveling and follow Diplomat Don's instructions. 2006 was the first year for one-piece windshields and Monaco learned how to do it better later.
