Hi guys and gals! Anyone into old iron? I just sealed a deal for a new toad. Trading my 01 Ranger that I got to put the Harley in and toad behind the moho(Ended up being a bit heavy and the bike gets trashed in the elements behind the moho). For a 64 International Harvester Scout 80 with 64,000 origanal miles on it. I have the van to put the bike in and tow and now with the Scout as a toad I think we are set. Now we can start some 4x4 exploring trips like Zion and Moab with the moho.

mountainkowboy...There had been a Scout in my life once..back about 1977. I don't remember if it was a 2 or 4 door (did they make a 4 door??) It was Canary Yellow!

I have a 69 F100 4WD that I restored (don't pull it behind the MoHo) and a 99 Suburban that I just bought as a toad. I'll be doing something crazy to the Suburban soon cause I like power and I think it will make a great street sleeper.

One thing to check into, I know that the NP435 in the old Ford is attached to a single speed transfer case (also a New Process, I think), and you can't tow it without disconnecting the drive shaft. If you do you will burn out 2 gear (don't know why second gear, since I didn't plan to tow it the question was moot).

Have you investigated the Scout for 4 down towing? Nice ride, by the way. Scouts have a loyal following.

Did you get the build sheet with it? They are tough little rigs, but were made from all kinds of parts from different manufactures. Great rig, maybe a set of bead locks to set it off??

Brings back memories of our 1985 Scout - also orange. Will you tow it?

Different toads for different trips.....the Harley wouldnt be good to explore Moab or Death Valley. I still may convert the van to 4x4 so I can do it all.

Well................a little has changed since the origanal post. The Ranger was sold to a friend who needs it for work, but we are still getting the Scout. We leave tomorrow night in the moho to pick it up and tow it home. Should be a fun trip..........and the first of the season for us.
