Greg, the problem we have is getting enough Pulik together at a show to make points. It is more difficult to get a turnout for a major.

There are only about 300 household members of the Puli Club of America, and some of those are overseas members.

We will be missing the Mobile show unfortunately. Hope you have fun and do well.

Hi Less,
Oops, I meant Dynasty! Wo...a Pulik huh? Who does the grooming? I hear you on not having much compitition. I've only seen one or two of them at the shows.
We used to show our PBGV and finally finished her in the lower 48 and not in Alaska. It gets kind of boring with all the "pointless" wins when there weren't any other PBGV's to show against in Alaska. Things have changed now that we are fulltiming it down here in the real world with our Norwich terriers.
Have fun,

AKBrick

Welcome Les from another new kid on the Monaco block. I grew up with a wonderful Pulik who was second as a great people dog only to our current Cavalier ;&lt Wish you safe travels and lots of best of shows.

When we lost our last Old English Sheepdog (still hurts after two years), we decided that a smaller herding dog would be the smart thing to do. We are not getting any younger!

We found out that a well known Puli breeder and AKC judge lived about an hour away from us. The stars were in the perfect alignment and we ended up with a great puppy.

Actually, we were looking for a pet and wanted a male dog. When the ultrasound confirmed four puppies "in the hopper", we put a deposit down to reserve our dog. As it turns out, only one of the puppies was a male, and that puppy was show quality.

The breeder said that the male puppy was the best puppy she had seen in her 30 years of breeding and that we should seriously consider showing the dog. We agreed to give it a go and ended up winning a Major his first time in the ring. We were hooked. All the folks were very friendly and tremendously helpful.

So, a coach allows us to travel anywhere, and keep the cute little guy at our side.

RV's are GREAT !!!!

Great story Les! I can only imagine what it would feel like being able to have the time (and take it) in order to show your dog! My Rusty's brother is showing and has won ... but he is always reserve to the winner. (The reds - like Rusty) tend to win in the ring over the black/rust minpins ...but as you can see from my Avatar ..my boy's "got game"! (He s the one in the background...Shea (in the foreground) is our miscolored sweetie!

Good Luck at your next shhow and Kick some Bootie!
BTW... What is your Puli's name?

Since I'm married to an Australian (actually Dutch-Australian), we named the puppy Aussie Mate. Bowmaker is the kennel name, so officially it is "Bowmaker Aussie Mate".

Your dogs look wonderful. The Avatar is a great way to show then off!!

About grooming a Puli - once the cords have formed, the daily routine is to make sure they stay separated. We wash and dry before every show, or every 3 weeks. It takes about 20 minutes for the bath and currently 2 hours in the super drying crate. Once his cords are floor length, I've been told that 3+ hours to dry is not uncommon. Cords are not something that you want to leave damp as they could become unpleasantly "fragrant"...(think wet yard dog!)
