Newby, Bunch of questions
Hi all,
Yesterday we took delivery of a new HR Endeavor 40. After spending 6hrs at the dealership for orientation and paperwork and making sure a few issues were already fixed we got it home. This is our first RV as we have been boaters for 40+ years and now have the chance to see the land side and travel. I have a couple of questions (one of many I'm sure!)
The awning over the slide worked fine at the dealership and at home twice, we retracted it and went to extend it and it wont go out. I checked the control box and it has power but the LED's in the control panel have all turned from green to yellow, when I push the extend button I can hear a one click but the awning does not extend.
2nd question, the dash radio/navigation/Sirius unit did not come with a manual and I cant even see what kind of unit it is to google it for information. The icon for XM radio is grayed out, anybody know if there is a switch/breaker for the antenna or even if there is an antenna?

I always recommend to anyone with questions, newbie or not, get yourself a good, local mechanic.............a bit harder than you might think to find someone good..............they can answer all your questions, and repair things as needed.......................as for your current situation, no idea, sorry....................

Just a guess but does your awning have a wind speed sensor. If it is windy out it may not let you put the awning out. If it is out and the wind picks up it will automatically retract.

Well it went out this morning but know it won't retract! I can hear a clicking sound at the end of awning but still can't get to work!

How bout battery power? Check house battery voltage. Are you plugged in to shore power?
Doesn't take long for battery to get low if not plugged in and perhaps the reefer has been running the whole time you are parked.

If you want help from someone that does not have a HR 40, tell us the manufacturer and model of the awning. As much information you can tell the forum will produce better, more accurate results, otherwise we are just throwing possible answers out there from our experiences and the information you provide.

Dometic awning, the large size, according to the coach manual it is 120v. It has wind sensor and limit switches. I think the problem might be a tigger in the control box. Yes I am plugged in, batteries are all charged. Still can't get it to retract, it makes a clicking sound in the roller. I checked the motor voltage and only showing 28v

I wonder if you are correct, all the Dometic awnings I have seen are 12 volt. What year is your coach? Somewhere there is a small black box (mine is in the basement on the ceiling). I have seen them in different positions, so you will have to look around for it, they are normally located near the door. It has a switch on the side that will enable/disable the wind sensor, place it in the disable position and try to move the awning. There is also a "telephone" type connector on the box, disconnect it, it goes to the wind sensor and again try the awning.

yup I found that box and did disable the wind sensor and still no luck. HR manual says 120v needed to power the box, shore power, inverter or generator has to be on. the voltage steps down to 12v to power the awning. I have power out to the motor and I can can hear it clicking when I push the remote. I guess my next step in to take power out to the motor with a battery to test it or manually retract it.

Other Question - As far as the radio goes...
Without knowing the model/make of the unit, I can only make a suggestion re: Sirius/XM being greyed out. On many units I have worked with, (Kenwood being among them) although the radio is 'satellite ready', you need a special accessory in order to make it work.
SiriusXM SXV300v1 Connect Vehicle Tuner Kit for Satellite Radio
This unit is available through Sirius or Amazon, Or Crutchfield, etc. for under $50. Then, of course, you will need a subscription to Sirius/XM. Just look it up on Google or Amazon.
First, however, you should check the back of the radio and see if there is a spot to plug in this unit.

Look in your Dometic manual for instruction to manually retract, IIRC there is 1 screw to remove. There should also be a quick disconnect for the motor in the awning arm. It sounds like the motor is jammed.

update! I did the jumper wire to the motor trick and all is GOOD! remote works and inside panel works, thanks all for your help.
the radio has no markings as far as identification however it does look like a Kenwood double din, the Sirius icon is grayed out I will research the kit.

Check all the connectors for corroded connections.

Glad you got it going!
If you have further problems, I would try removing all power for a hard reset. Not sure if awnings have control boards, but anything electronic can sometimes benefit from power removal. You could do this by turning off the house battery disconnect switch for about a minute!
