Nice setup. I assume that's your sat receiver under the TV, but what's in the box under the A/V cabinet above the steering wheel to the left of the TV?

Ah, OK. Then there's got to be a matching one on the other side.
I'll bet that sounds MUCH better than the dinky little square ones on the ceiling.

'Mama & SacsTC -

Nice, very nice y'all. Looks terrific.

I've been stymied by putting a larger tv up there because all the 32" ones I've measured would require major surgery to the cabinet area since the tv is quite a bit wider (where's 'Bama and his chain-saw when you need him??). But it looks like you circumvented that problem by mounting the tv external (i,e out away from) to the existing wood-cabinet trim-pieces, yes? Which model Visio did y'all get?

Any chance of a few more pics of the actual install-job and its mounting? Especially from the right/passenger side, since that's where the tv would have to shift.

Again, awesome job.

! Great Job! I am envious of you all who have this wealth of experience.
Shoot, right now even getting fuel is a challenge for me!
I look forward to seeing other mods.

I can't take credit for the modification done to our rig, but it certainly was an attractive feature when we were looking to buy.

TV Upgrade

What I like is how it opens up the area and reduces the chance to bang my head. The Gateway flat panel has the receiver/DVD player in the adjacent cubby. The unit also controls the sound system, making for a compact and clean installation.

The biggest issue is the fabrication of the hinges for the TV. I'm sure most any interior or RV electronics shop can fab it up easily.

The photos have just been uploaded, so give it some time for the images to be approved and made viewable.

SacTC and M.M.,
Beautiful setup!!!!!!!
Okay, now I want to know where you got that extra shelf made. Jo and I have been thinking about getting a satelite dish but there's no shelf space to put a DVR/reciever. We're pretty much resigned to the fact that we will have to have a shelf made for one. I think we may put it under the drivers side cabinet where you have your speaker. Under the TV would work but I'm wondering about the view when driving. Also Monoco put our thermostat right up underneath the TV at the front windshield. Real dumb considering that most of the outside heat or cold come from that area.
Again, we congratulate you on your new addition!

Tom

Can you expand upon that comment a bit? You've peaked my curiosity there.

Thanks SacTC, I think we were typing over each other and I just deleted my question about where it was made! I've also been wondering about dish versus dome. A lot of people have been telling me that dish is better than dome because of the positioning by trees and such. Is your dish mounted on top or is it on a tripod?

I'd like to see a TV & cabinet that flips up to the ceiling when not in use, and down when wanted. Seems that would open this big windshield for a more panoramic view.

Didn't know that HD reception was only possible with a dish. Thanks. Someday when we can retire and start using the motorhome for extended trips, Sat TV is something I want to look into more.
