We have been to Coburg twice before and always went from Newport to Florence and then across to Coburg. Streets and trips is showing a route from Newport to Corvallis. Is that a better route? I notice it is shorter.

Thanks

Hi, Moisheh

Hello from a (now) Washington based Native Oregonian!

Newport to Corvallis is a beautiful, easy drive- and I think it's a more direct way of getting to Coburg than the Florence route.
I like both of the "99's" that go south from Corvallis, but 99E splits to the Coburg road at Junction City.
You could also just go to I-5 from Corvallis, of course.

I think it really depends on whether you like to take in the sights or just "get there"- the Florence route is certainly the most scenic...

Whichever you choose, enjoy the trip!

Francesca

Thank you very much. We are going to Armitage park so that route will work well.

Hello again, Moisheh

Sounds like fun!
Armitage is a beautiful park- isn't it right on the McKenzie River?
I used to camp a lot on the McKenzie- one of the most fantastic sights in Oregon is up that way...
The Dee Wright Observatory is on the old highway (242) that leaves Hwy 126 about 100 miles east of Coburg.
If you've never seen it, it's well worth the (day?) trip!
It's in the lava fields just over the Cascades there, and it's constructed entirely out of the lava itself!

How cool is that?

Have fun on your trip!

Francesca

P.S.

You probably already figured this out, but the Coburg road off 99E is at Harrisburg, not Junction City as I said in my first post...

F.

We are currently in Novato and heading up to Eugene. We are going to stay at Armitage also after all of the good reviews. We should be there on Monday.

We just finished two weeks at Armitage. The blackberries in the area are ripe and boy are they good on ice cream. I ended up with two tree frog hitchhikers in my sewer bay, when we left. They now live on the river in Portland.
