The electric side of my Aqua-Hot quit working. The light on the switch is on.
Breaker is on. no hot water.
I tried the diesel side. The red light on the switch is on. There is a low humm coming from the unit in the bay, but no hot exhaust or hot water.
Is there a common component I need to check, or is it just a co-inkidink.

One thing that can cause both system not to work is if the boiler anti-freeze level is too low in the boiler. Check your AH control panel LEDs in the basement. Check the LEDs against what your operators manual says or let us know what is off on on.

Did both the electric and diesel stop working at the same time? On the diesel side when you turn on the switch and you hear the hum does that shutdown after approx three minutes then nothing? When did you last change the AH fuel filter and the fuel nozzle? My guess is that if it has been more than two years then time to do that to get the diesel going. On the electric heater side there is a high temp sensor on the side of the boiler that has a real bad reputation of popping and shutting off the electric heater. If it is not that then the heating element has gone.

Thanks,
Found the magic box. You are correct. Low coolant was lit.
DUH! Guess I was trying to make a simple problem as complex as possible (again!).
Added coolant, both work fine.
Happy camper now (no pun intended)
Thanks,
Bill

Glad it was that easy. These systems are complicated and are hard to keep up with. The only thing you have to ask is where did that coolant go. Hopefully it leaked out the drain valve which has a habit of doing that. I would watch it over a period of time and see if it leaks down again.

I had the drain line leak on my 05 the first year I had it. Replace with brass fittings. For some strange reason only the drain fitting was plastic.

I replaced my drain valve also with a brass ball valve and a 4" brass nipple from Home Depot. I wish there was a way to do it without letting the boiler anti-freeze out.

There is a known issue with the low coolant sensor on many AQ's. The replacement is of better quality.
