I have been working on this problem too long without results so am throwing it out to you readers. '95 Dynasty, new water pump, full water tank. The pump will just run endlessly with no pressure anywhere. This shouldn't be this difficult! The valve that says "city closed/fresh open" should be in what position when operating?? I have also tried priming pump...nada! I can blow into tank and hear gurgling so line must be clear. Free beer for life if you can help!! Well,,, sort of! thx

I had the same problem in our 5er and it turned out there was an in line shut off between the water tank and the pump.

Well if your valve looks like the one in this picture, it should be on FRESH WATE TANK to draw water from the on-board tank to the pump.

If it is in the other position - LOCAL SUPPLY - that is used when connected to city water. In this position the pump may or may not be in the water circuit. It is on my coach but may not be on yours depending on how the plumbing is run from this valve.

Rick....My guess would be the check valve in the city water inlet is stuck open. Just behind the connection where you hook up your city water hose, is a check valve. When you don't have a water hose connected, the check valve closes and lets the water pump, pump water. Once you connect the city water, the pressure pushes the valve open and supplies water to the system. The pressure also pushes against the water pump and keeps it turned off.

A simple way to check is to seal the city water inlet with a cap. We just went through all of this with my brother-in-laws coach.

Sound like you might have a air leak on the pumps suction side. Do you have a screen filter screwed into the suction side of the pump. The housing on them can crack and the pump will suck air. The filter is a two piece affair that can be taken apart to be cleaned. Are both halves locked together properly? On mine I have a problem getting the water tank supply line to properly screw into the filter. It's kind of a tight place to work in and if I don't get the threads lined up just right it will cross-thread and the pump will suck air.

Also, I see you are in Colorado. If water was left in the filter screen over the winter it would freeze and crack the housing. You can test the filter by removing it and plugging on end with your finger and blowing in the other end.
Good luck.
Greg

your city water / tank fill valve is in the wrong position. If it is in tank fill, but with no hode connected and no pressure, the pump will run endlessly without actually producing any water.

Rick....A simple rule to reduce confusion and prevent overfilling....the ONLY time it should be in the "Tank Fill" position is when you have a city water hose attached and you are physically standing there filling the tank. Once the tank is full, turn it back to the City Water postion.

+1 on this post .. I did the same thing ( no water and pump running ) was ready to buy a new pump and closed the valve position and that was what the problem. I disconnected the pressure side of the pump and water went everywhere that was when I knew the pump was fine and started looking and found the valve was turned to fill

Did you know that if you try to fill the water tank when pump fittings are disconnected that you will need to break out the wet vac!!! Lucky my foot can't reach my butt!!
