Aside from making sure you have propane, the service manual at the link below has saved me several times from having to go in for service.

Hopefully you are aware of the massive recall by NoCold on many Model 1200 fridges and their potential for catching fire. After years of denial, NoCold has issued not one, but four worthless recall devices that supposedly will prevent this from happening. This link, if needed, will let you check your frigdge model against the recall list. Norcold Recall I would, under no circumstance, purchase any NoCold fridge with these model numbers, regardless of how many recalls have been done on them. A lot of people are making a long and eventual story short by purchasing a rebuilt unit from these people who I believe do installs also if needed. RV Cooling Unit Warehouse The replacement of the rear unit tubing, etc, is a DIY if you are mechanically inclined. Others have gone and replaced there NoCold with a residential unit if they have an inverter and sufficient battery capacity.

Chuck & Cissy,
Check if there is flame at the burner. If there is not, check the igniter for spark. If you don't have flame but you have ignition check for a kinked gas line. Does your range work ok? You just have to keep eliminating possible issues. If all else fails, get a RV tech that is propane qualified to check it out.

Try turning the unit off and then back on. Often times, the first time the fridge is turned on in the gas mode, it may not fire up the first couple of times. Try the off and on procedure a couple of times - waiting for the "check" light to come on if it doesn't fire up. If that doesn't get it going, check to be sure you have propane going to the unit. If you definitely have propane to the unit, and the above procedure doesn't work, you may have a problem with the circuit board. FYI, I have done the cooling unit replacement with the Amish cooling unit sold by RV Cooling Unit Warehouse. This is a major DIY project and one I would not attempt unless you are absolutely sure your cooling unit is bad. It sounds like you have a relatively minor problem there that hopefully can be remedied just with some fiddling around with it.

I made the mistake of trying nearly everything I could for over 3 years - hoping to get my 1200 Norcold to actually work.

I even bought extra exhaust fans and wired them into the roof vent so fresh air was pulled in around the coils - helped, but no solution.

Gave up this past fall - I removed the 1200 from its cabinet, remodeled and expanded the cabinet just enough that I was able to install a residential fridge - a Frigidaire 18 cubic ft model. Now have something that works, freezes ice cream, is cold inside, and I don't worry about the gas burning us up.

God Bless

Bill

I had a similar problem and found that I had accidentally turned off my carbon monoxide detector that was near the floor. If the green light isn't flashing it's off and the propane shuts off.

Do I understand you correctly? WHen your CO2 monitor is off it also shuts off your LP gas? Which model/brand coach is this?

It was my 95. & 99 American Eagle. It is tied to the propane tank as a safety cut off. I assumed all coaches had that. I think the reasoning behind that, if your monitor is off and you have a propane leak you would not know it. So they fix it to shut it down. It almost cost me a bunch to find that out. I am not sure if all monitors are near the floor or on the wall. Turn yours off and try to start the frig on gas. It will light until all the gas in the line is gone then shut down.

I think you meant to say your propane detector. CO (Carbon Monoxide) detectors are near the ceiling.

Kix is correct here
Propane is heavier than air and is at floor level below the bottom cupboards...and flashes a green light with every good sample taken. ...smoke detector/CO sensor is on the ceiling....
