Here's a series of posts with the pix of the first half of the Norcold conversion to Samsung.

The Samsung was delivered today. The Loews guys had never done on like this before and in fact had never removed the doors from a model similar to it. At first they were looking for reasons not to do it but after they called the boss they agreed to give it a try. I opted to bring it in thru the front door. I removed the door holder and the awning arm to get the door open further. I also removed the grab bar in the stepwell. I had covered the floor with cardbord sheeting and much of the cabinetry and dashboard but we had one casualty. Something caught on the dashboard where the radio mounts and scraped the vinyl pretty good in one area. There was one minor easily reparable ding in the TV cabinet and a small scrape on the refer body that will be hidden when it's installed. It took 3 of us to get it in since it's still on the heavy side even with the doors and hinges removed. I made a suggestion that actually made it possible to horse it in. Use those suction handles that the glass handlers use. With those they were able to handle it easily and had no problem lifting it onto the handling platform after they got the doors on and the freezer drawer installed.
I had previously cut the TV cabinet down to better accomodate the new Samsung 32" LCD I put in a couple of years ago. If that hadn't been done It wouldn't have gone in the front door. Also I had neglected to remove the door latch posts from the door jamb. It got a bit close but it made it thru.
The wheels are another story!! They have rubber tires on the plastic wheels and they are now all screwed up. I'm going to take pix tomorrow and post them here.
As it is they took about an hour to do the whole thing once they decided that they could do it.
The Samsung is plugged in and purring happily. Wifey checked it a few ago and said that the temps were 30 in the freezer and 45 in the fridg. It had been plugged in for about an hour.
Success!!!
Ron

Checked the Samsung this a/m, -2 in the freezer and 36 in the refer box. Won't be able to "insert" it into the box till Monday probably. More then.

Nice job! The rubber on the wheels must be something new. We got our Samsung this past summer and the wheels are hard plastic. They never marred anything but only rolled from the dolly we made into the cabinet.

I covered the floor with luan and the tires came off when the Loews guys slid it sideways. Also I slid it sideways in order to get it into the cabinet without removing the doors again. After rolling it in and out a couple of times they straightened out. Another idea I have cooking now is to install a steel plate on the plywood floor under the leveling pad and use the bracket to secure it in the front. I've also made some plates to screw into the cabinet to restrain the unit from coming out the front. All I need now is something to put between the unit and the side wall to keep it from tipping into the side wall.

Excellent show and tell. Where did you get such detailed specifications for the litte things like the rear wheel positioners etc?
Let me get this straight, the two delivery guys from Lowes actually help you get it in position? My experience with the big box stores is just getting then to show up, . How much did you have to bribe them?

Lowes guys tried very hard to get ours into the MH. Ended up putting it in through a window ourselves New fridge goes in through side window Some photos there of our install.
I took the brackets for the levelers, turned them backwards and ran bolts up through the new floor into them. That prevents any sliding or side to side tipping. The rear has a metal strap attached to the floor and bolted to the back of the fridge to prevent front to back tipping. Not that it can go far because I think the top of the fridge in back touches the ceiling.
We are loading it up with food right now to take off to warmer climes.

Ours only went in the front door because I had previously cut down the TV cabinet when I installed a new flat screen. I'm still trying to dope out the front leveling pads, I thought I scoped out the reverse bracket idea but found it wouldn't work for me. Why I don't remember. Someone asked how much I had to bribe the Loews guys. After the job was done I tipped then each $5. They seemed really happy with that.
