Have just been told by my dealer that the door seals on a model 1200 refrigerator can't be replaced without ordering the complete door. Tell me this isn't true. are there any fixes without buying a complete door?

Yup, dealer didn't lie, at least THAT time. 2 of the door-seals came off mine (it wasn't from abuse) and I got the same answer both from dealers and Notcold. Stupidest design-concept i've seen in a long time. New doors were in the neighborhood of $800. Ended up putting black electrical tape on 'em to hold them together.

As far as fixes... check out the threads about replacing the Notcold with a residential frig. Probably less-expensive in the long-run (door-seals, recalls, replacement fans, recalled recalls, poor cooling... and so on...).

call Larry in parts. Beavers sales and service center Bend Oregon. If anyone can get them he can. Guy is great and I have never needed an item he couldn't get for my 8 year old coach.

With a little computer investigation, Google for fridge seals, and some creative engineering skills, removing the old ones and creatively attaching the new ones, you can circumvent the outrageous cost of the new doors and seals.

Or find someone that is replacing their unit with a residential one, and see if they will sell you their doors. The panels are changeable. I did that with one of my doors when the previous owner had botched up a hinge replacement. The seals were in great shape too.

One of the reasons we are replacing the Norcold with the Samsung res fridge. We could not believe you cannot just replace the door seals !!

How are the seals attached? Seems to me a little silicone or rubber cement would hold just fine...
