We should look at the class action suit not as a means to make some money from this situation, but as a means to tell the business community that they cannot get away with this kind of behavior.

I don't think anyone with their head on straight thinks they'll get any significant money out o this. What I would expect is to be made whole after any damage done by a defective Norcold. By that I mean all expenses covered along with full restitution for the damage with a little extra for the drop in resale value due to the damage. (Carfax) Fulltimers would have to be compensated for their loss due to having to pay rent somewhere. The boilerplate liability statements made by those who put out a defective product need to be set aside and made to understand understand that maintaining a pool of assets to cover this kind of exposure should be required.

If the class action is successful, the lawyers will get 1/2 and the end user will get pennies and that makes you whole somehow? A few victims of Norcold fires need to get an attorney and sue on your own if you want to recover actual damages.

I would think that some insurance company that has paid for a fire loss would have been pursuing Norcold by now.

The decision to cheapen the product until it was dangerous was made by people. Those people will have reaped their reward and be long gone by the time the Piper is paid.
Those left to deal with the penalty will have had nothing to do with the malfeasance. It is a sad thing.

But.... Those new people let it continue. They did not fix it and knew they could. I have no sympathy for any of them and would sentence them to serving time in a unit so equipped. They could learn what it is to worry about it. I can just imagine the letters to the warden.

Dear Warden - how can you let us stay in these unsafe conditions. Have Amish units installed immediately or we go on hunger strike.

Dear prisoners - I don't care if you eat or not. We will however let you upgrade your unit to Amish - your dime of course.
