Glad I changed my Notcold for a Samsung a year ago. Look for more info as time passes.

I don't miss propane at all in my refrig. Have the NoCold 1200 in my fifth wheel (parked) but don't have to use it. If I was on the road in the coach and had to park and go without shore power for more than a week, then I would have to transport diesel to the fuel tank much sooner than I would have to replenish the propane but that has never happened so far. I was really glad to have the residential refrig in the coach when I bought it....never a problem with getting a below 0 freezer.

Best Replacement for the Norcold is???

I am wondering if we would be better off and safer to replace our Norcold. They did do the recall replacement part, but I am still a bit nervous about it. Especially since I have a disabled son who travels with us often. Anyone know what the best the replacement would be?

If you like the propane on the nevercold you can install an Amish cooling unit. About the same cost as a res ref.

Does your hand get freezer burned when you take the ice cream out of -0? How long before you can get a scoop into it. I need facts before I decide for sure which way to go. I can only wait so long for my ice cream.

Sounds like you have reached that point in life where you need to consider the "yogurt ice cream".

Quick (and possibly dumb) question: My 2012 Thor ACE has a Norcold refrigerator Model N611RT. It was probably manufactured in 2011. Does anyone know if this is an affected unit, or is there a website where I can check?

Actually I reached the point in life where the doc says no more ice cream - just pointing out below zero is a good thing. I think 0-8 is more or less standard - and so far my 1200 is working apparently better than most cause it's right in there with all "fixes" current. But still on fence for what change to make before going full time (if any.).

I drove an '84 Jaguar XJS V12 for years. Mechanic told me over and over again that it would suck a valve seat - not might - will. Guess what - it finally did in 2006 or '07. No problem - it was a car. This whole fire thing feels sort of like that but on a more serious level.

I think all nevercolds have a deficient cooling unit. See class action suit. The steel tubing that nevercold uses for the cooling units are to thin and can rupture leaking ammonia and hydrogen.

What do you think the outcome of the lawsuit will be, besides making a good living for the attorneys? deSanford

Put the company out of business as soon as the attorneys get their money.

When a rep from norcold read the documents- he said "they are without merit" You bet, pal. statements like that- you deserve what you will get: guilty as charged.
