looking at a 2003 Dynasty EARL with the ISL 400 turbo Cummings. Immaculate well maintained coach with 100,000 miles for $135k. Any nuances of the year and or model this "newbie" of RV world should take note of?? First purchase although have rented in the past. Information much appreciated.

anderjer...
welcome to iRV2!!
First...Have you checked the NADA guide for RV's?
I would do that first to make sure it isn't priced too high.

I am going to also put this in General Discussion...because someone may have owned one and sold it...do they may not read the Monaco forum still...
Good Luck with your search and with your upcoming purchase

Again...welcome to iRV2!

anderjer, welcome to iRV2.com. We are glad to have you join us here and look forward to reading of your posts. You will want to know what came standard and what are optional equipment when using NADA price guide. Have the owner or dealer show maintenance records. Make sure it has new tires before buying. Good luck and keep us posted.

The Monaco Dynasty is definitely a nice coach. The only potential problem I would have is the high mileage. Over 20k per year would be high even by automobile standards. Probably not as big a concern on a diesel engine but it gives one reason to pause. I have seen articles stating the national average is around 4000 miles per year. We have owned a RV for the last 20 years and probably put 6000-8000 miles per year on average.

I would agree with Howard Leap. The chassis and steering components don't know a diesel engine outlasts a gas engine, they wear at the same rate anyway.
I add my welcome to this RVing family!

A well maintained chassis should last as long as the engine. The long haul trucks, running on chassis' made by the same people that make the RV chassis', are designed to run hundreds of thousands of miles. If the coach has had all the required preventive maintenance and anything that went wrong fixed, the 100,000 miles on a 5 year old coach is not that bad. Actually the coach is 6 years old and that makes it 16,667 miles per year. It's harder on a coach to sit up than it is to "exercise" it. Maintenance is the key. Along with the tires suggested by RV Wizard, take a close look at the brakes. Replacing them will not be cheap.
