Just a quick question. Can you run all 3 roof ac's off of the generator at one time. New to us coach and lots to learn. Thanks in advance

Yes you can and I do it all the time. The only time I couldn't was when I was at high altitude with ambient sounds temps over 100 degrees so the generator was down on power and it did a safety shut down due to heat. I let it cool for fifteen minutes and started it back up and ran just two AC units. After the ambient temps dropped I started up the third one again. The generators are sized st 12.5 KW based on running all three units. If I am parked and the ambient temps are high I extend my generator out the front to allow a little better cooling but not sure it makes any difference since the radiator cooling air comes from under the generator. The generator is totally self protect from over temping or drawing too much power.

We can run 2 13.5k btu and one 15k btu Dometics on an Onan 8kw genset, along with a Samsung RF197 frig (residential). However, I try to cut back on other 110vac usage (switch to gas hot water heat, decrease battery charge-rates, etc) during that time.

Me too. All 3 on a 10000KW. No problems! Tell us what your rear A/C is doing before you replace it.

I have since we got it with the 10kw onan,
but one day the wife was cleaning up the night before a trip and cranked up the vacuum cleaner in the rear bath and everything shutdown...

guess with all tv's going, 3 ac's, lights, res fridge, and the Vacuum we crossed the threshold.... shutdown all the lights, turned off what I could
(hard to turn of ac's when there is no 110 )

then after panic looking at breakers, fuses, switches, etc... about 30 minutes later everything came back on... whew, emergency avoided and trip didn't need to be canceled

Unit kind of makes a "buzz-clunk" noise, like it's locked up. We are at Elite RV in Harrisburg, Or. These guys seem to know what they're doing. Have a new one ordered.

JohnBoyToo, that wasn't your generator kicking off line it was some other device in the MH. If you overload a Onan generator it trips a breaker on the generator and you have to manually reset it.

Racermom, sounds like you're happy with the repair shop and confident in their abilities to resolve your issue and that's a huge plus. The shop may have determined that in your case it's more economical and efficient to replace the unit vs repair, or they may not offer the option to repair your existing unit, or there may be time constraints or special circumstances that need to be considered. That said, there are many instances where replacing the complete AC unit is not necessary and replacement parts are readily available at reasonable prices (if the shop offers that service). Best of luck and hope you get back on the road quickly!

Edit: what type of racing are the kids (or you) involved in?
