Oil Change

We're getting ready to change oil in our 01 HR Imperial. I have been using Rotella, but have noticed the good notices Royal Purple gets.
Anyone have any thoughts on the subject?

I have been using whatever is on sale. I have even used Walmart oil. Sits on the shelf next to Rotella and the specs read the same. I change oil more often than Cummins says I need to so I don't much worry about it.

I like their oil, I think it is a great product.

I DO NOT think it is worth the price charged. I'd stick with Rotella.

For full disclosure I use Rotella in mine.

Rotella 15w40 Dino oil here. Changed annually in my birthday month by Speedco. Rotella and Deli dino are the most commonly used oil in diesels.

Synthetic is a waste of money in typical MH usage, as it does not extend the change interval.

I use Delo 400 LE in all of our diesel engines. We have three Cummins engines. Thinking about trying the newer Delo 400 SDE.

What are you looking for that the Rotella hasn't done for you in a new brand oil?

I run the cheapest name brand oil that meets the specs required by my Cummins engine, which is API CH-4. All modern diesel oils meet that standard, the latest API spec is CK-4 which was introduced in 2016. I've run Valvoline, Mobil Delvac and Rotella in my pick up and coach, depending on sales going on. I wouldn't put synthetic oil in it because I don't drive it far enough or hard enough to see any benefit.
