96 Monaco Dynasty with Onan Kubota 8.0kw diesel genset. Just changed air filter, engine oil and filter and fuel filter. Now the darn thing spins over but won't start.. Yep, I filled the oil/water fuel filter and bleed out the system as detailed ... now it will not fire up... NOW WHAT ??? please, it is sitting there waiting for me to do something.

Thanks

Have you held the stop switch down for a minute or so to run the fuel pump long enough to build up some fuel pressure. I suspect that you have some air in the fuel line & that is causing your "no joy" situation. That would also be the easiest thing.

Good luck

Held the prime down for a minute plus... just turns and turns... added a shot (Gawd forbid) of ether... that spun the engine but it did not catch. Ok, so I called local diesel mech to come and have a visit. thanks

Just for grins. You do have more than a 1/4 tank of fuel. It will not pick up fuel if less than 1/4 tank. Just a thought.

That is a fair and resonable question... and yep, plenty of fuel... Just a thought, I have the hp fuel system bled... how about the low pressure fuel system ? Could I have dropped prime there to ?

Is the fuel shut out valve engaging open to allow fuel, when you depress the start switch?

If it does not engage the engine will not start (no fuel). All diesels have fuel shut of valves/solinoids that control fuel to the engine. I had to replace mine ( it would not engage) several weeks ago. Mine is a older unit and it was easy to trouble shoot because you can see the solinoid. I actually manually engaged mine and started the engine. Good luck. Oh, sometimes they will just stick due to dirt or grime build up.

RUNNING !!! I went through entire system again, nada !! Finally, with help of Playtyme R V's Sales & Service ((504) 362-1318 1415 Hancock St, Gretna, LA 70053)) we determined the injectors were not getting fuel (even after several bleeds), so we buttoned the system and agreed to work further on it at the shop this Monday.

While the boss was cleaning up his older and slightly off assistant borrowed the 3/4 inch open end, laid his hand on the injector pump, made what I assume to be the sign of the Cross (I hope) and said "start er up"... I proceed to the cab, lit the glow plugs for about 6 seconds and hit the starter... The son-of-a gun started right up.... HAPPY HALLOWEEN... New Orleans style ... (Honest to Monaco, this happened..)

So huh,---------what fixed it? I believe everyone suspected fuel problems. Did the tech find something wrong on the pump? Was the guy a healer?

Just in case he was a Healer I got his cell number and will be glad to share if you are in need of his services when in the New Orleans area... Service calls start with a 100.00 bill.

I believe, in my limited experience with diesels, there was an air lock in the injectors... once they got fuel to everywhere it was supposed to be the engine decided it was satisfied and went back to work.

Again Thanks to all... It was a great way to get to know your Onan Kubota genset...
