Onan Quiet 10000 Diesel Problem

Ok another learning curve for me. My Onan 10000 will not engage the starter. When you push the start button all you hear is a soft clicking. It will not turn over and crank just that faint clicking. There is power to the switch and it flashes but no starting. The switch does not flash a code. We leave Wed morning for a RV club function. Any ideas?

On my quiet diesel 8500... Basically the same genset... When I hold down the start button, I also hear the clicking sound and the light in the button will flash. This is the pre-heat mode and the genset then starts when it is preheated to the temp it needs. Depending on the temperature this can take a while sometimes... How long are you holding down the button to preheat the genset? It may not have enough time to preheat and therefore will not start.

When starting, hold the "Start" switch down, it will flash......keep holding it, the "glow plugs" are heating up...... to make it easier for the engine to start.........I hope this is it?

Do you have a switch that connects both the house and chassis batteries. Maybe try engaging them and try. Have you started the coach diesel and try that. Have you tried to start with the switch on the gen itself. Hope this might work. I know of one that the battery was down and we had to connect both batteries to start the generator.

Thank you folks.....that is what it is. The temp outside right now is 39. I pushed the switch and held it down about 25 seconds and the genset started. This is the coldest temp I have ever started the gen in so I wasn't prepared for the genset to do this. I was use to a 3 sec start. You guys are great! Happy New Year.
