Wayne M : with all due respect, I think you have the east and west sides of NOLA confused....and that is easy to do because of our "crescent shape". West of NOLA I-10 goes to or from Baton Rouge and has been totally rebuilt into a pretty smooth asplalt slab. Now, going East towards Slidell and MS, I-10 is really a roller coaster as you describe, especially in the "New Orleans East" area between the city and the new bridges crossing Lake Ponchartrain.
For anybody not
needing to stop in NOLA, travelling east or west on I-12 is recommended, as Wayne posted. ED
